Up until now Nintendo has relied on Foxconn Precision Components to make Wii systems. Although sales are strong, Nintendo is having trouble meeting the much unexpected high demand. Now Nintendo is turning towards other manufacturing companies like Asustek Computer, Compal Electronics, Inventec and Wistron to increase production. As reported previously Nintendo has already met their goal of sell over 6 million units worldwide by the their fiscal year, March 31st. Though no official announcement has been made yet. A while back Nintendno stated that they would want to be able to pump out 1 million units a month, with more manufacturers they could accomplish this.

good move by nintendo. With enough manufactures builidng wiis they have a greater chance of outselling the 360 sooner.

It might be a little late, I mean sales are still quite high, but it would have been better if Nintendo did this around december/january
It's never to late to add more manufacturers to increase production.
I know, but by the time that they've switched, most people who've been waiting will already have one, so if they just stuck with the original manufacturer then it would have the same outcome (thats what im thinkin at least)

They aren't doing it all for the hype. It's just they can't produce enough for all the hype they've been getting with only one manufacturing comapany.

You never know, only time will tell.
I really doubt it would though. I mean the ps2 didn't really have that much competition until the xbox came out, and even so it still did great.
