In an interview with Newsweek, Miyamoto stated that he is displeased with the effort that third party developers are putting towards their games for Wii. This has come about mainly because most third party developers are porting their games instead of creating well developed original content. Miyamoto knows that not every game from Nintendo is a blockbuster hit, but the company makes sure to put its best people behind titles that are "designed to really support and sell hardware."
Miyamoto sill believes in third party developers and had this to say:
Partially, I think that once third parties are able to look at these examples, take their great technical know-how, and combine that with some ideas that they have about how to achieve new ideas that can only be achieved on that particular piece of hardware, then I think they're going to have the chance to really see some great success. But ultimately, it depends not so much on trying to add new elements to existing games; it really depends on the posture of the creators and the managers of those third parties to encourage them to take some risks and come up with some new and unique ideas.

I agree, but you can't abandon what sells well. The Godfather was a pretty good example of how a game for a standard system can be ported with great success control wise. I also prefer Madden and DBZ on the Wii.
Madden is more of a multiplatform game than a port but EA took time to develop controls for it to make it work There are some ports that do work but the number is small. I do believe though that developers should try to focus more on original content more, although more are starting to.

I wasn't calling Madden a port persay, just saying I prefer that version to the others.
I think that latter in the year (Q3-2008) that third party support will sky rocket. Why? Probably because by then Nintendo will have had a great success with selling allot of systems and software.
Yea, once Nintendo gets more praise and gets crowned king, third party developers will rush for the Wii!
I agree (twiddling thumbs waiting for more good content)

I agree with you on this. Even when 3rd parties don't come up with totally unique games to the Wii, the motion controls make the games seem very fresh. The three you referred to were right on.
I don't mind some ports, especially if it's a game I never played before. I say with time more third party developers will make games from the ground up for the Wii after they see that it's not a fad and that it's not going away anytime soon.
