people should start posting here and letting us know what they think of the game when they pick it up today

FYI.... Circuit City is doing another guaranteed in by 2 pm on Tuesday deal, where if it ain't in, you get a free $20 gift card. Last time they did it (The Godfather on Wii and PS3), they didn't get the game in til 3-4 days later and I got a gift card.
Here's hoping.

that's a very good tip, sadly enough I'll be out of town on Tuesday so won't be able to take advantage of it. thanks for posting that though. I like it when businesses do things like that, not only to help promote their stores, but maybe even help out their customers.

maybe there needs to be a seperate thread, one made up for all the spotlight on areas so that people can get hooked up to do them.
I like that idea.
I definitely have to pick this up. Might give me something to do while I wait for galaxy.

Today is the day everyone should have the chance to pick this game up...has anyone gotten it yet?
I picked the game up this afternoon and just finished playing it for about 20 min, and I gotta say, it's the best looking Wii game to date. It's fun, and funny, and thus far I really really like it.

well yay for you being rich enough to buy it. SOME of us are starving college students...
i did play the demo at GameStop though. i was surprised. it was rather enjoyable. most surprising is that it's not really an RPG. Action/RPG maybe, but not even turn-based battle system. how did i miss this before?

I'll send you my copy after I'm done with it. No worries...

we should start a little rental service from our members. write up contract so if a game is lost it must be paid for. create paypal accounts so the renter can pay for the shipping. still be cheaper than any game rental store or website
*ponders mentioning to D4rk and joker*
IT'S MY IDEA! I HAVE THE PROOF HERE ON THE THREAD!

I'm at the end of world 1-4 and just noticed something...sometimes when cool crap appears, it makes the same sound as in Metroid Prime...it's hard to explain, but once you hear it, you'll know.

I've spent about an hour on the game. It's worth every penny. I could care less about RPGs. The game play, especially flipping from 2-D to 3-D and back, is remarkable.

Great Spotlight! It's refreshing when you read a post from someone that is professionally formatted and edited. It lets us know that you know your stuff and actually know how to post without having to resort to ‘1337 speak’.
On the same note, I’m personally not sure about SPM. I mean the gameplay mechanics are amazing and all, and it looks sweet. But what benefit does the wiimote give it? And what’s new when you compare it to all those side-scrolling Mario games in terms of what’s going on? The usual get to the flag? Especially when I’ve got the most of them from VC and New Super Mario Bros, on DS. I’m not dissing the game because I can honestly say I’ve never played it but can anyone tell me what new stuff it brings to the table and how the wiimote is implemented?

The Wiimote controls are really awesome. I've played this game for about 2 hours today, and will play more of it tomorrow. I really really enjoy it, and it's beautiful.
*I like pointing the Wii mote at the screen and using it like a flashlight to see hidden things...really cool.

You also have to shake the wii mote to do various thing besides pointing it like a flashlight. The levels aren't 100% linear....it's 3-d for short periods that you control (although the basic principle is A to B....where a flag is replaced by a star or heart), more like Mario 2 than Mario 1 or 3 (go in doors to get where you need to go). Like I've said, I'm not in love with the game, but thusfar it seems to have the potential to be quite good and definitely worth $50.

I was just playing Super Paper Mario, and found myself in level 1-2 of the original Super Mario Bros. SO COOL.
