Passing

To pass the ball players point to the character they want to pass to. Then a meter shows up on screen and the player has to move the remote down at the right time. Finally, the pass can be caught by pressing the A button.

Running

When you have the ball you can shake the remote to juke and dodge a charging defensive player.

Defensive line

To push the opponent’s line forward you have to shake the remote. See the blue and red bar in the center of the screen that determines how successful you are at pushing the line.

Kicking

To kick the ball for a field goal or at kickoff you fling the remote up.

Special moves

Here is where Eyeshield 21 differentiates itself from simulation games like Madden. Characters can do special moves by pressing the B button

Video of Gameplay

Proff that japanese don't know how to do a football game......
The art work looks cool though!
Anime and football go together like oil and water...
I think it looks cool. >.>
The video really makes it looks interesting, I guess it's one those games you have to try out for yourself to find if you like it or not.
the japanese make any sport seem interesting, i already like football but football wit super powers is cool, soon enough though they'll have chess with super power pieces that can levitate and set traps for other pieces.Really Happy
lol didn't know Japanese played football.
I don't think there is a japanese football league

ontopic: What type of graphics are these? cel-shaded?
I think they are cell shaded.....
Yeah, they definitely look cell-shaded. Looks wise they look interesting. I don't know how it plays though. I would like to give it a try. Some games I like to look realistic and some games don't need to. Most of the Mario sports games are good. I used to love playing NHL Hitz on the N64 or GC. It was the most fun I had playing a hockey game in a long time.

When running, it's as simple as watching the player animations and prep sequence, and then flicking up, down, left, or right during the "action" phase. The computer (or other player) will make a decision at the same time, and as long as the offense doesn't make the same move, they'll evade and run a few more yards. All the while a time bar will tick from full to empty, and once it's down an auto-tackle will occur. The trick is to balance speed and decision making, as you can either guess quickly (to conserve time) and hope for an evasion, or wait for the defense to input its decision before evading with a different motion. All in all it's a basic game of time-based rock/paper/scissors. In the DS version it was as simple as clicking on touch-screen targets to evade defenders, so in that way the game has stayed nearly the same.
