I always liked the Final fantasy series and from the trailer the FFIII graphics look amazing. Im definatly going to pick it up.
I will purchase the game so I can complete the fantasy. It will be good to play it, and the DS is going to benefit from this game.

Final Fantasy 3 / III news

A user of YouTube has published a short but exciting video of in-game Final Fantasy III coverage. The video is definitely worth viewing, as we are sure the game will be worth playing.

Also, as some of you may have noticed from other Final Fantasy sites, the Final Fantasy III (3) box art has been confirmed, and here it is:

And in other Final Fantasy III news, Square Enix and Nintendo have confirmed there will be an official Final Fantasy III DS Lite, with the limited edition Final Fantasy III Crystal Edition game. The DS will boast a Final Fantasy 3 look, and will only be sold with the game.

Video
Thats some ace boxart, and yeah I've seen the special DSLite, I'd love to have it but since I have Lite already there is no point. I don't think the boxart will look like that over here in Australia though.
The boxart is a sexy feind Toungue

Actually, you're thinking of Final Fantasy VI (6) for GBA. Here's the article from GI.

I don't get it... How come they don't hit eachother when they attack?

Final Fantasy III's job system is sweet, plain and simple. We blow the lid off all 23 classes...

The highly anticipated release of Final Fantasy III for the DS is looming ever closer as more and more leaves begin to change color and fall from their woody companions. In honor of the impending release, we've taken the opportunity to inform you, our not so woody companions, about the bounty of jobs available in the game. So study up, because planning out what selections are best from these 23 classes is the best way to better prepare yourself for the oodles of challenges the game will present.

Freelance

The starting job class within Final Fantasy III is the freelancer. The overall every-guy of the game, freelancers can wield any weapon, and use simple magic spells. However, they aren't particularly good at anything, so get out of this class as soon as possible. Also, each of the four characters has their own freelancer appearance, unlike the job classes where they often look very similar.

Warrior

The warrior class doesn't need too much of an explanation. These are the OG tough-guys, with high amounts of HP and defense. Warriors can't use any magic at all, but they do have a unique "berserk" style attack in which they sacrifice their defense to increase their attack power. Hulk SMASH!!
Ranger

Final Fantasy's ranged attacker is the ranger class. Catchy huh? They attack from a distance using their bow and arrows, and have the ability to unleash a special Barrage technique in which they rain a random amount of arrows down upon the enemies.

Thief

The thief maintains their namesake quite well, allowing players the ability to steal items from their foes. Not everything can be a surprise. However, a not so ordinary benefit of the class is that they have an ability called Flee, allowing the party to escape from battle with less difficulty.

Knight

The knight trounces the warrior in defense, and even has the ability to use a Guard technique, in which they absorb the damage inflicted upon other members of the group. They can even use certain white magic abilities to aid the party.

Monk

Mr. David Carradine would be proud! The monk is a hand-to-hand fighter bringing faith to the enemy, by smashing it right into their faces! Monks can't use any magic, and are restricted in the equipment they can use as well. Another benefit of the class is the ability to use Counter, and give those enemies a quick rebound smack.

Martial Artist

Taking the features of the monk class to the extreme, the martial artist is a similar fighter, but with an even greater attack power. Think Bruce Lee compared to Steven Seagal. Martial artists can save up their strength through multiple turns, and unleash a devastating bundle of pain. Using the Save ability to much can result in letting a little of the damage slip inward. Ouch!

Dragoon

The lance user of Final Fantasy III, the dragoon is comfortable in the skies. They have the unique Jump technique, in which they can leap into the air for an entire turn, and come crashing down on to enemies. Dragoons are particularly excellent at assaulting airborne foes, and they're also totally cool. It's all in the name!

Dark Knight

These guys are bad, and by bad, I mean absolutely bad-ass! The dark knight class embraces the dark arts, and keeps all the benefits of the knight class as well. They can attack multiple enemies using the Darkness ability, but they do it at the expense of their own HP.

Viking

Vikings are the lumbering, destructive types they always were. (Sorry Erik, but you've got to face the truth!) They wield mighty axes and hammers to crush their foes, and can Provoke enemies attacks to be drawn squarely on themselves. How noble! Someone save these guys a seat in Valhalla!

Geomancer

Friend's to the Earth itself, geomancers wield the powers of the land in which they fight. They damage foes using a special Terrain technique, and other magic spells based upon nature. Geomancer's also attack the enemy using bells. Don't ask.

Scholar

Scanning the enemy for their various traits and weaknesses is the specialty of the scholar. They can also make use of items more effectively than any other class in the game. Here's hoping these guys get their head out of the books, and are more useful than they were in the original release of Final Fantasy III, where they were largely inconsequential. Sort of like scholars in real life, eh?

Bard

Sing me a song! Bards are the performing class in the game, and can Sing a tune to either help the party, or hurt the enemy. Their songs can yield a variety of effects, and they are more powerful with a nice harp to go along with their melodies.

Red Mage

If the freelancer were the every-guy of the game, the red mage is the every-guy, that doesn't suck. They can equip a variety of weapons, have balanced attack power and other stats, and have the ability to use both while and black magic techniques. Red mage's get a little street cred for being mages, but not wearing those damned silly skirts.

Black Mage

Weavers of the dark arts, practitioners of the forbidden ...practice, holders of the musty tome! Get it? Black mages are, as they always have been, the damage-dealing mages of the Final Fantasy universe. These guys bring the pain to multiple enemies, but can't take much themselves, considering they have the least defense of any of the jobs.

Magus

If black mages practiced the dark arts, magus' wrote them. A more powerful version of the black mage, the magus has the ability to use black magic, only with a much higher amount of MP, therefore making them an overall improvement on their origin. They're also bitter enemies of the devout class, well, not really, but they should be.

White Mage

As familiar as the black mage, white mages are a Final Fantasy staple, and they've been healing and reviving for years. White mages are the support of any party, and as such, they have low attack power, as well as low HP and defense. Don't expect much damage to come from these guys, but it's a safe bet to keep one handy for when the going gets rough.

Devout

Just as the magus to the black mage, the devout are a more powerful white mage. They've given up their robes for kitty ears, God knows why, and in turn received a much larger amount of MP to help their compatriots through the toughest of times.
Evoker

The evoker can summon random creatures to help their party members in their battles. They summon creatures of either the dark or light variety, and serve mostly as a stepping stone to get to the one class that Final Fantasy fans are always hungering for.

Summoner

Summoner's claim bragging rights as one of the entire franchises coolest classes, and they have good reason why. These guys have more MP than the evoker class, and bring the goods when it comes to summoning; mainly summoning creatures from either the dark or light variety. Bahamut, how I've missed you!

Ninja

One of the best classes in the OG release, Ninja's are the most speedy of all the jobs. They have the fastest attacks, and can use the Throw ability to lob things like shurikens at the enemy. Without a hidden pirate class popping up anytime soon, these guys could vie for sweetest class in the game without many serious opponents.

Sage

Master of all the magical arts, the sage has the ability to use not only all of the black and white magic spells, but also the spells of the summoner as well. Sages were, like the ninja, a force to be reckoned with in the OG release of Final Fantasy III, yet they have been toned down in the remake, with lower MP than the magus or devout classes.

That makes 22 job classes in all of Final Fantasy III. Wait, what's that you say? We mentioned 23? Alas, there is yet one more class we didn't list above, and it is the hidden Onion Knight class. Acquiring the onion knight class requires that players explore the Mognet feature within the game, and complete a special sidequest. The onion knight is the original starting class of characters in the Famicom version of the game, and it has the potential to be the strongest class in this remake. We won't be spoiling any of the details on this one just yet.

So, now that we've laid all the jobs on the table, what will your parties look like when Final Fantasy III releases this November? Four scholars? Seriously? Have fun with that one! A team of ninjas sounds right up my alley. Sound off and let us know your plans for traversing the Final Fantasy realm!
