Virgin has taken the first step today, as it's become the first UK brand to offer its services on the Wii. In opening the door to its music channels via the Opera web browser, it's presenting a new way for Wii owners to enjoy their console. Several different stations will be available, including Classic Rock, Xtreme and Groove, along with the ability for users to download tracks, along with full albums, and buy concert tickets. Also, the service will allow you to play music videos.

This is very exciting news, as it paves the way for other companies to team up with Nintendo and offer their services via the Wii console.

companies are really jumping on board with the Wii. i don't see how you can download music to the system though. far as i know, only "Favorites" and some usernames and passwords can be saved to the Wii. no cookies or temp files. less maybe their saving to a server account

very true. a couple of days ago i used my wii to post on wiiloaded and found that it kept me logged on all those months ago.

This is good news!
I'm glad to see that company's are getting on the wii-band wagon!

maybe this will help the wii's online support.....
Thats pretty cool to have Radio on the Wii cuz I don't listen to the radio much since i am never in a car. I already use Orb to listen to music though.
That's great news, I wonder what other companies will soon follow. And would we be able to store our downloaded music on the SD cards from Virgin.
Sheesh! The Wii craze just keeps getting bigger and bigger!

Gee, I thought Sony said it was just an impulse buy?

Well, is it an impulse buy if it has more than DOUBLED the PS3 sales, and is on the way to selling 7 million consoles in less than 6 months, as well as winning the hearts of EVERYONE it comes into contact with (minus my next door neighdor in my dorm)?

Well, this is me flicking off all the Nintendo nay-sayers. it ain't over 'til it's over, folks.

z6: You can't flick them off, NB. It's not PG, and it's just mean.
NB: What?! It's blurred out, and you can't even see it!
z6: Just give them a thumbs-down or something.
NB: Fine. Thumbs down to all the Nintendo nay-sayers. BLEEP you all.

PG IS AWESOME.
i hope it good music too. idk but this seems to good to be true.

True dat, maybe the new opera version will have features so you CAN download things.

It's probably more like how the company I work for handles being able to "download music" to our satellite receiver. Rather than actually downloading anything it just emails your account with a link to where you actually download it (on a computer).
This is yet another step for Nintendo's online glory. Ok, maybe I'm overshooting a bit there but this is good to see. I'm guessing (hoping) that the final version of Opera for Wii will allow for downloads, whether it be music or video or pictures or whatever.
