Overview: Despite being titled Armored Core 4, this is the 11th installment of the Armored Core series. AC4 is set in the future in a different universe, where a war has been going on that has left the nations of Earth devastated, with their governments been taken over by corporations. It also features a system that allows you to customize your mech, and has online play for players to battle each other over the PlayStation Network.
Customizing: In AC4, there is a Garage which allows you to vastly customize your mech. The first part is the Assemble section. Here you have a current list of parts of ones you own and don't own. The parts you don't own are labeled "DATA ONLY".
You can also buy parts you don't own, and sell parts you do.
-Paint. Here you can paint your mech with a wide range of colors, although some parts remain unaffected.
-Test is the next section. You can test out your newly customized mech by choosing enemies to place in the Arena.
-Tutorial, as the name implies, is a tutorial of the game.
-Design. Here you can add visuals to your mech that don't actually affect it's performance.
Criticism: There has been much criticism towards AC4. Missions are short, some lasting only 60 seconds, online multiplayer is bad, environments are bland, and it's game play is reduced in complexity compared to the rest of the AC series.
This game has received mixed reviews. They are as follows:
Gamespot - 7.7 out of 10
IGN - 5.9 out of 10
Game Trailers - 7.3 out of 10
GameStats - 86.5 out of 100
1UP.com - 5.9 out of 10
GamesRadar - 6 out of 10
GameZone - 6.7 out of 10
TeamXbox - 6.2 out of 10
Summary: Armored Core 4 is a very fast paced game with decent graphics, tough controls, and it is not highly recommended for the 'casual' gamer.
