I would like to start a thread about the books in the Inheritance Trilogy. I loved the first two and can't wait to get the third one! It will be sweet! Warning! If you haven't finished the first or second book, then you may want to watch what you read in here! There will likely be descution of events that will spoil! So be warned!!!

So, to start the descution off, i couldn't believe that Murtagh went all evil at the end of book two! Craziness.....
As of 2007, two of these three books have been published: Eragon (2003) and Eldest (2005). The third and concluding novel in the trilogy is still being written. And also, there was a movie on Eragon.....
Get it now???
I've heard of Eragon, so yeah, I know now.

Still don't like reading books, though.
The third one STILL isn't out. What is up with that? Toungue
I think that its coming in the summer, but its gonna be the best one of them all!! I hope that Murtagh dies....
****POSSIBLE SPOILERS****

Murtagh will pay for being a traitor!! Also, I was thinking.. It WOULD be interesting to see if Arya got the third dragon.(Maybe a bit cliché, but it would work) Also, the "root of the Menoa Tree" doesn't have to mean a physical root... It could mean a descendant ("root" has more than one meaning) of the person that merged with the tree.

Anyway, I'd love to see how Chris Paolini pulls off endings! Wink
I think it's been a great series so far, third one will be brilliant, and it was a shock when Murtagh went evil. I liked himSad. I hated the movie though, could have been good, but i couldn't get past the many, many changes...
Yeah, the movie sucked @$$. They better make the Eldest movie better. (Or not make it at all xD)
I don't see how they can even make a movie of Eldest, since they changed the whole ending of Eragon! I loath how that movie ruined a brilliant book...

True.

The movie was completely different in some parts.
IMO, they ended it like that because they didn't want to make Eldest and Inheritance III to suck like the first movie. xD
But seriously, they might have made it like that because they don't know what will be in the third book, and they might have screwed it up big time.
(They still managed to screw it up, though. xD)

I'm looking forward to what Paolini will write in Book III ^_^

I was ok with the movie until I read the 2nd book. I never read the first book because I had never really heard about it. After watching the movie I couldn't wait for the next one so I bought the book. Now, even without reading the first book I can tell that they royally screwed up the movie because it doesn't even come close to linking with the second book. It''s a real shame because it's a great story but don't see how they can continue it now. I'll get the first book to read it just to know what "really" happened.
Eragon= rip off of star wars, LOTR etc.

i don't understand what's so great about the Inheritance Trilogy...can someone explain that to me?
Its a great story muahaha Galby sux, Murtagh is awesome, and its no longer a trilogy* Chris announced that the third book would be too long so he's splitting it in 2.

LMAO, have you even read it?

Nothing to do with Star Wars... and Tolkien didn't invent elves and dwarves you know...

It just doesn't help that every other two-bit author in the world feels he has to have them in his story as well. ^^

Haven't these people ever considered the creative freedom of making their OWN races? You know, instead of just adding a prefix to existing ones?

Science Fiction wins in this regard. Just look at Mass Effect's universe, even if it is a videogame. Now there's some bizarre and creative racial choices.
Rise from your grave! Man, this is an old post that I forgot about. Yeah, it has been a freaking long time and I'm waiting for the 3rd book as well. I just hope I haven't forgotten everything from the 2nd book by the time it comes around.

no but he did make them world famous.

and yes it has many things to do with Star Wars. The main plot is practically the same damn thing.

- At the begining, a princess/fair lady is running from the enemy with a secret she stole. Gets rid of it before the enemy can get it back.
- Who finds the secret thing? A farm boy.
- Who is the farm boy living with? His uncle.
- Does the farm boy like working on the farm? No, in fact his best friend has already left to join/avoid the millitary
- What happens to the farm and the uncle? Attacked and destroyed by the forces of evil. And the boy insists in returning to save his uncle.
- A stranger/social outcast helps the boy and tells him he has a special ability and is the only person left who has it. As it turns out, the stranger has/had that ability at one time. And he starts the boy's basic training of that ability.
- What do they have to do? Find the rebels to help fight the tyrant.
- What happens on the way? They have run-ins with the enemy, and they end up pulling off a crazy rescue attempt of the damsel in distress.
- Oh, and guess what? The bad guys are tracking them to the rebel base and a large enemy force os heading towards the base. Time for the boy to defeat the big bad guy.
- No, the main villain is not the boy's father, but a friend he picks up on the way turns out to be the son of the man who killed the stranger/mentor's dragon.
- And the mentor dies to protect the boy.

Lol, that's Star Wars alright xD

But ya, Tolken did re-invent elves.
They used to be tiny midgets working in Santa's workshop before Tolken took them, streched them to human size, and threw them into the woods as nature freaks. xD
so Legolas makes toys on his days off...big deal
