Anyway, Wii can compete with PS3 & 360 just look at current sales.

I wouldn't call it competing. I would call it owning. Basically, that's what the Wii is doing to the other two systems right now. Hope it lasts.
Ok, to answer your question about how a two products from the same company can be in competition with each other, they can. Easily.

While yes, a sale is a sale, what Nintendo does NOT want is someone deciding to buy a Wii "instead" of a DS. Or vice versa. In that manner, one has stolen a potential purchase from the other. Nintendo wants to make sure that the selling points of a Wii do not overlap the DS.

they're both made by the same company, how can they be competition for them. plus the Wii can obviously compete with the PS3 and X360 cause its out sold the PS3 countless times world wide and its catching up on the 360 in sales.

Oh wait...EVEN better...you just proved my point and answered your own question.

You first asked "How can Wii be in competion with DS, they are from the same company"

Then you go on to say:

if they brought the Super Smash Bros. series to the DS, i wouldnt need a wii.

See. There you go. Theoretically speaking, if SSB was on DS you'd buy that instead of a Wii. So, in essence the DS would have stolen the extra 100 bucks you would need to buy a Wii. The DS caused Nintendo to lose a bigger sale in the Wii.

This is what Nintendo wants to avoid. DS IS competion for the Wii as you inadvertantley just pointed out. If SSB is on DS, you wouldn't buy a Wii...therefore the DS has become a competitor with the Wii for your dollars. What the guy from Nintendo is saying is that he wants to make sure that the DS has things that the Wii doesn't have and vice-versa. That way you will want a DS and you will want a Wii.

What surprised me yesterday, i was working at Bi W Entertainment Desk, I went out the back and we have tons of Wii's stacked up, and I mean tons!!! Then I went down to EB Games during my lunch break, and I was talking to the guys there and they were saying that their Wii Sales have been moving really slowly, almost to the point where they're struggling to sell Wii's. The PS3 on the other hand is flying out the door according to them why the 360 remains slow but steady. At Big W the Wii's are selling okay, I've been working there for a couple of months at Home Entertainment now and am yet to see a 360 unit sold and as for the PS3, since launch we've sold about 4 and a few games, so it's an interesting trend in sales compared to what's apparently going on in the rest of the world.
Wiis not selling and PS3s flying off the shelves, that story sounds a little strange.
I know that's what I thought!!!
Thats wrong because i went into town the other day and there were 3 PS3s at Target, 4 at Kmart and 6 at gamestop!!

And i saw no wiis....What a surprise!!
