That's what Yasuhiro Wada, creator of Harvest Moon believes. According to him,

It’s very difficult. Wii cannot really compete against PS3 or 360, which is why Wii’s main competitor right now is DS. They are competing on the same level. So, Nintendo has to work harder to make Wii’s own market, as opposed to competing against DS’s market. This would be my first piece of advice to Nintendo.

Apparently he doesn't believe the Wii can compete against this generation so he wants the price of the DS lowered. Does this make any sense to anyone?

thats a big mistake in judgement on his half
they're both made by the same company, how can they be competition for them. plus the Wii can obviously compete with the PS3 and X360 cause its out sold the PS3 countless times world wide and its catching up on the 360 in sales.
Wii = DS There both great, they both sell great. Done and Done.
if they brought the Super Smash Bros. series to the DS, i wouldnt need a wii.

There is a mistake in your judgement also.

The Wii and DS can be competetors.

People may see them as innovative ways to play games, but the DS does it without needing a TV. So some people may pick DS based on that decision.

okay so where exactly do you stand on this?
but Wii is selling better than PS3..........
yep.
i had wii first ,then i get my ndsl after i played my friend's NDsl about 30 minits....i don't see that Wii need to compete with DS..
and wotz the defination about next Generation game systerm...i think itz about somethin New whatever the new feels for your eye or your body >.>
well thatz my own opinion.: >
I don't see how they're trying to compare. If they mean by sales then they'd be dead wrong because the Wii is owning both right now. If they are talking processing or graphical power then no duh. If they are talking about internet then see above. If they're talking about games then I also don't see it.
i'm sure what this guy was talking about but he's on something.
This is bull....
How can you think that the same company is competing with itself?
It makes no sence!
The Wii makes a lot of cents.....and dollars as well!
apparently it cant compete with the ps3 and 360 seeing how you can walk into anystore and pcik up a ps3 and 360, but it wont be happening if you wanted a wii. not because nobody wants to buy them, but because theyre still in high demand after 5 months since its release.
I'd say that the wii is pretty much a victim of it's own success right now.

I can't find one for the life of me, and to be honest, that very reason is probably why I'll buy a ps3 and skip another one of nintendo's consoles.
Wouldn't lowering the price of the DS just mean more DS sales?
Good point there shortofdaybreak
And welcome to Wiiloaded! Big Grin
Actually, I believe the DS is competiton against the Wii.

But that doesn't mean it isn't competition with the PS3 and 360.
If he's saying that the Wii isn't on the same level as the 360/PS3 like Sony says, then his argument makes no sense, the DS isn't on the same level as the Wii either.

I just recently bought a DS over a Wii.
Why?
Right now its the better pick.
More games, portability, WiFi games, Pokemon...

Sure, the Wii will get these, but as for now, I don't see a reason in buying it. Nor the PS3.
I never understood these people that buy systems on the first day...
They don't even know if it's going to be the system for them.
If anything, Wii is attracting the DS audience because Wii is the same level of innovation the DS has brought to handhelds only for your home console.
