after reading this article, i was interested to know what some gamers thought...

so for you which Nintendo game most moved the game industry forward?
Mario Bros., no doubt. Any retro gamer will tell you that. You had to be there when it was big. I was there about 11 years ago back when in Europe it was still impressive (relax americans i'm kidding) but we had Genesis PSone etc. but I was 4 years old and nothing was more sexy than that boing boing noise that mario and luigi made
Super Mario Bros and the NES saved the dying industry. Mario 64 ushered in the era we live in today (unfortunately... everything is 3-d). Super Mario Bros wins.

Super Metroid is the best game on the list imo, followed by Ocarina of Time...
Super Mario Bros., It started it all.
I'd say Super Mario Bros brought a new interest back into the game (similar to what Harmonica was saying) and that Mario 64 had the analog and 3D graphics. I think Wii Sports has also had a great impact for "new gamers'.
think wii sports may be the one we look back on in 20 years but till then i guess i gotta go with SMB

Well said wise one, well said....^_^

I think that LoZ: OoT really moved it forward,

super mario brothers was fun, but it was really just like the previous mario games. I think if it were any mario game, it would be super mario 64
I think all of them did except Metoid.
No, metroid did bring alot of industry in and is said to be one of the best games ever...

IGNs top 100 list Wrote:
Hailed as one of the best 2D adventures ever, Nintendo's sci-fi epic still provides one of the most thought out and intriguing gameplay experiences around. Ranging from extensive platform challenges to gigantic boss battles to a comprehensive power-up system, Super Metroid has attained a divine place in the hearts of longtime gamers. Certainly, it stands as something players and developers can idolize for years to come."

But i still think that Super Mario started it all

Super Mario Bros. Hands down.
Lol, that's what IGN thinks. I'm not IGN.

You do have a good point there Big Grin

I would say Mostly Super Mario Bros, but I also voted OOT.
i went multiple as well, think i should have included all of the above
Mario 64, too me, didnt really do anything.

I also think FFVII moved the industry >.>

Did I just read that right? Dude, there were no previous mario games before Super Mario Brothers.

Anyway this one is a no-brainer, its gotta be Super Mario Brothers. We probably wouldn't even have a videogame industry today were it not for that game.

No. It was just a good game.

Well... there was The Original Mario Bros. which had no "super" in it, and it WAS pretty fun. I don't think it moved the industry though. In GG's defense though SMB was leaps and bounds over MB. In no way was it similar to the point of downplaying it.

Yeah, there was Mario brothers but it was a totally different game. It was ok for me and I did have some fun with it. Don't forget jump man but that was technically a Donkey Kong game even though Mario was the hero.

not a nintendo game,

but maybe the original LoZ, it brought the RPG out of hiding to the masses, no longer having to play Zork II on their parents compuserve accounts...
