I'm heading to Gamestop tomorrow to trade in a bunch of games that I don't play anymore, so I can put down a reserve for one of the new Pokemon games. I was wondering, in all, how much you think I'd get for them?
Here is the list:
Dave Mirra Fresstyle BMX 2 - GCN
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron 2: Rogue leader - GCN
Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour - GCN
Meteos - DS
New Super Mario Bros. - DS
Advance Wars: Dual Strike - DS
Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Eternal Duelist Soul - GBA
Mario vs Donkey Kong - GBA
Mario Pinball Land - GBA
Think this might add up to something of worth?
maybe about $20. $25 tops, and only 'cuz you got nsmb on there. i have a friend who sells 90% of the games he buys to gsmestop/eb games. last i knew he had a total of 2 ds games (still 1 more than me/he used to have 8), about a dozen GCN games (he never really had many to start with, i have him beat there), and a handful of GBA games he hasn't touched in ages (aside from pokemans emerald, which he played for about 20 mins after i got his AR to work a little). a few weeks ago he had something like $180 of in-store credit. he's insane. i plan on selling off a few GBA games and my RE4, Metroid Prime (1 and 2), NFS Underground, a harry potter quiditch game that was barely ever played, some crappy tony hawk clone on scooters (i had a choice of that or bayblade for a friend 4 years ago because i was broke and my mom wouldn't buy anything i told her to, so i got stuck with this and my friend got the beyblade. i still hate myself for that), and possibly starfox adventures and pikmin if i can sneek them out of the house. i'm pitching RE4 and metroids because i don't play them anymore and RE4's getting an update well worth the $30 price tag and MP3 will be out long before i even consider missing the first 2. between all that i'd be lucky to get enough for diamond version if i can get it in the next few weeks, but if i get enough for that than i can get pbr to go with it and possibly a ds headset. first i need to time it right with a trip to a friends house the same week they do their shooping for the week. shouldn't be that hard. having a budget sucks. why can't the ds and wii print me money too, not just ninty?
You won't get much. You'd be better off trying to sell them independently.
EB and Gamestop will rip you off with the defense "Its the convenience."
But its your choice.
they rip you off because they have to. technically, a store only makes maybe $5-10 on new game sales, but upwards of $35 on used sales. truth be told, if they didn't screw you on the trade ins, they'd go outta business and you'd be forced to buy games from the evil that is Wal-Mart
i'm actually guessing $60 trade-in because of a few of those in there
sell em your self. ebay. garage sale. whatever just not to gamestop or whatever, theyll really give much less than what you could get for them.
you get at least 5 for anyone of those
nomads completely right on the money they make from used games.
used to work at record store, same deal. boss'd offer a small amount for a crate of cds, customer would accept b/c theyre sick of lugging them around, we'd sell em for 2-4 times what we paid for em. but we'd also get a lotta crud we would never sell..
seriously sell the stuff yourself.
i know they need to rip me off to make money, i know they give you crap, but i already have about $55, it's just a matter of getting what i can where i can and stretching it as far as i can. i'm focused mainly on pokemans diamond, but pbr would be really nice to have, too. i've got well over $3,000 i'm planning on saving then blowing offby the end of the year, so i can't do too much for spending now.

You're really saying I could get $60 off of these?
I know I don't get much for trade-ins, but I just need about $25-30 to get a good down payment on the Pokemon game. I've got the rest covered. Plus, I'll get that ballin' stylus.
If they have any deals going on, maybe I'll get a little boost. They've done it in the past, and I'm sure they may do it again.
As others said, they'd rip you off and you wouldn't get nearly as much for them as they are worth. Try to get the money another way if you can.
You'll get 40- if your lucky, If you have New super mario bros, you can get $23 off of it! : D
Yeah I would guess $30-$40 just because New Super Mario Bros. is in there. Don't be surprised if they offer you maybe $1 or $2 (if anything) for most of your cube and GBA games. The other DS games may fetch a little bit more.
If you really want to make good use of the trade-in offers you have to act quickly. Usually if I buy a game that is quite short and I'm sure I probably won't play it much in the future, I can trade it in within a couple months of its release and probably get 80% or so of the price back that I can put toward a new title. Saves some money that way.
I say sell it at Microplay, or Blockbuster, more money.
