I just came across this and I can't believe it. I don't want to believe it. In North America the Wii has not seen any online games yet but one game that everyone knows will be online is Mario Strikers Charged. I'm not a big soccer fan. In fact, I can't stand soccer and I live in a place where there are five soccer channels that only show soccer all day long! However, I was actually thinking of picking this game up when I heard it would be online. There aren't so many games online and this sounded like it would be a fun one to play with my friends in other countries.

Well, I can now scratch this game off my list. Why? In the Official Nintendo Magazine they had an interview with the Mario Strikers Charged team and asked them a couple of questions. One of them was "Will we be able to play people from all over the world or are we limited to specific regions?" and they answered "Wifi in Mario Strikers Charged is region specific so we can ensure a quality gameplay experience. The game is very twitch based and reactive, so it’s important for us to keep lag to a minimum." Lag? Lag? Are you kidding me? Sure I understand what lag is but aren't the other systems allowing you to play with people from other regions? Aren't they too worried about lag? I guess this just shows that we don't know what's good for us and Nintendo has to tell us...

I'm hoping the same thing. If all online games are region specific then I'll, I'll, I'll ....be really disappointed and go pout in the corner. Please don't let this be the same for all the games... Purdy please

thats not entirely true. You can play other people in other regions if your friends with themselves is what i heard

So, Live is not everywere....Unlike Wi-Fi, witch is all over the world...
So it makes sence why they would want region locks on games online just to pervent lag. (And if they have voice chat, whouldn't it be really really weird to not understand other peoples language??)

did Nintendo ever say there'll be voice chat options for wi-fi games.

I don't think they did, but there might be in the future.

thats what i thought, so the argument about voice chat wont apply, at least for now. therers no possible good thing about this info, it only entales more bad news cause its possible other wi-fi games for the wii will follow.

Why wouldn't they?
Live and PS3 online have voice chat. So if nintendo wants to draw in some gamers who appel more to online, then they would make the smart move and put voice chat in.
We still havn't much about online ether. So maybe the day that nintendo gives details on online, they could anounce that as well.
And besides the DS has voice chat, so why not just put it in for the Wii?

but if you wanted to just play online with the ppl outside of WiiLoaded, then you cant.
