Ok, so right now the Wii's graphics are compareable to that of the current PS2's graphics. But if you think about it, when the PS2 first came out, the graphics weren't near as good as they are now. So if the beginning Wiis graphics are as good as the final PS2s graphics, then that could only mean the 'final' Wii graphics will be as good as the beginning 360/ps3 graphics? Hmm, i hope so
Oh ya, and the final 360/ps3 graphics are going to be amazing...
You logic makes sense and that might actually happen, we just have to wait and see.
This makes sence except for this part...
PS2=
CPU 128-bit "Emotion Engine" clocked at 294 MHz
GPU "Graphics Synthesizer" clocked at 147 MHz
Wii=
CPU IBM PowerPC-based[1] "Broadway"
GPU ATI "Hollywood"
So the wii IS more powerfull then the PS2 and will most defently have greater graphics as well
I know what you mean..but wouldn't they put the best graphics for there best games? Like Zelda?
Then Metroid will probably have great graphics.

They would try to make everyone of their games look good not just their best ones and that applies to third party developers as well.
Over time the graphics for games will just get better and better. I mean look at a PS2 Madden 2001 compared to Madden 2007. The graphics are alot better. and 2005 would be inbetween graphics.
I am not really a graphics type person.. I could care less really.. what makes a game isn't the graphics, its the game play..
Oh and I agree with you Wenis.

I know that, but you can't say graphics don't play any factor, I mean if I had to choose between Madden 2007 for Ps2 or madden 2007 for the 360, id definately go with the 360 version
I am talking about systems that are on the same level as eachother. Who wouldn't chose Ps2 madden over 360.

Other way round ^_^
i hate to break it to you guys...but I seriously doubt that the Wii's graphics will be anything like beginning PS3/360 graphics. There's a huge power difference between the 360 and Wii...this is all wishful thinking...
perhaps it'll be close...but never the same...
By the end of Wii gen I think it'll be getting close to first gen 360 games.
I would be very happy to see a good Sweat Mechanic.
I think we will get somthing close to Gears of War
(Wishfull thinking)
If we do, the Wii would have its price raised..
Why would its price be raised?!
ya I would think the price of the console would gradually got lower not higher

I think that he meant the game price...
And it would probably not go eny higher the 55 or somthing
I agree with Mana, in the respect that this is not a system you come to for gameplay and such. And the fact that if you need the most detailed, advanced graphics available in gaming at the moment, you're in the wrong place.
In this sense Gluegun is right:
That being said the Xbox 360 and PS3 are already leagues ahead of last-gen titles and the 360 titles that were released in 2005 or early 2006, so a Wii game released in say 2009 will still look very last-gen compared to a 360 game released at the same time.
That being said, I also agree that we'll see an overall improvement in Wii game graphics. It's a natural progression mainly because after developers have created a game or two, they have learned what the advantages and the limits of the Wii are. They learn the architecture and where they can push to get what the most of the system - whether it be in sacrarificing some of the expansiveness of the game for greater graphics, or concentrating on a in-depth game and forgoing detailed graphic punch (like nomad's point about GTA). And there's always the possibility of multiple game discs, I don't think we're beyond that yet.
Capcom is a great example for this question. You look at any of their franchises on Gamecube - RE or Viewtiful Joe in particular, and you see a general improvement of the graphics. From RE Zero to RE4.. both used really nice in-game graphics, but RE4 was a big improvement, and is considered in the canon of best games of all time. They use mostly in-game renders for their cinematics, and that probably bumps up the overall quality versus having bursts of pre-rendered glory. Then there are games like Viewtiful Joe and LoZ WindWaker that don't go the higly realistic route, but find some of the best looking graphics created on the system.
On the Wii, look to Capcom to gauge the graphics progression with RE:Umbrella Chronicles and Treasure Island Z, and then their sequels to push them to another level. From Nintendo we'll see nice showings in MP3, SMG, and Disaster, but it's really in sequels on the same console where you see it go further. I think mainly because it's the same team, and they've already made something for the system, and now they know it so well they can tailor the next game even more for the system and go where they wanted to go last time.
We'll see some games later in the generation that push toward the 360, but because of horsepower, won't quite get it. But it's in innovation and style graphically where we will see some really nice stuff from in the very least from Nintendo and Capcom.
The Wii will never look as good technically as any ps3 or 360 game. That being said most of what we're seeing now is pushing the Wii anywhere near it's limits, the Gamecube was more powerful than the ps2 and the Wii is a fair bit more powerful than the cube, but no where near the 360. What I don't understand is why we're not seeing the Wii pushed to it's limits from the start if companies are already making games on the 360 / ps3 that have better graphics...do you get what I mean. Anyway, once developers get used to the controls we'll se much better graphics in game, but sadly, never as good as the 360.
i think the reason for the crappy wii graphics is because developers are just rushing to get some games out for the wii. the xbox 360 and ps3 are said to be like 10+times more powerful than the the original xbox and ps3 and the wii is like 1.5-2 times more powerful than the gamecube so the late wii games will probably never look like early xbox games and especially not gears of war. and so far, most of the games for the wii have crappy graphics, way below from what the gamecube could do. (look at the graphics of star wars rogue squadrons and RE4, and then look at most of the wii games out right now.)
ps. games like ssx blur are games that look like real wii games and not crap games.
