Data for the month of March from NPD Group indicates that the PlayStation 3's rapid decline in sales in the US has stabilized, while sales of the Wii are falling back to earth.

For the month, the PS3 sold 130,000 consoles, up about 2 percent from the past month. While the change is statistically insignificant due to it being within the margin of error for the survey, it still shows signs that sales have begun to stabilize.

Nintendo's Wii saw the largest month-to-month drop, selling 259,000 units, down 23 percent from the previous month, matching February's decline percentage-wise. However, it was still good enough for first place by a significant margin over Microsoft's Xbox 360.

The 360 saw a similar drop, with sales in March of 199,000 units. That was down 13 percent from the previous month. However, still strong was the PlayStation 2, with sales of 280,000, down 5 percent.

Of video game titles, the PS2's God of War II, topped the charts, while Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced War Fighter and Guitar Hero II, both for Xbox 360, followed in second and third.

Altogether sales of video games, devices, and accessories were $1.1 billion USD in March, up 33 percent year over year.

Lol, there aren't any sells because there aren't any freakin' consoles.
Awww, you beat me to it Ricky. I was gonna say the same thing. I really think that's the case. They just didn't get enough out there and all that were available were sold. I think next month it will pick up again with Wiis just being shipped and sold recently.
Its either no one can find a Wii, or everyone has one. =D
My buddy just got his on Sunday, he was saying there was a pretty big turn out of people still trying to get a Wii. I'm sure it's all about availability still at this point in the game.
I agree with what Ricky said!
No consoles=No sales
I also agree with Ricky.
^but that would mean that Nintendo is producing less consoles, if the sales are declining and yet they are still sold out everywhere...

The are producing less, but they are still selling well. maybe because other companies involved with production can't keep up with Nintendo's rush to produce more until they find another manufacturing company.

I think part of what this article is trying to say is that Nintendo wasn't really on the ball when it came to manufacturing. It's been a very long time since people were standing in long lines waiting for a Nintendo system (not counting the DS), so perhaps that were taken by surprise also, but we're almost 5 months into the new year, so manufacturing issues or lack of finding more places to produce the Wii is totally on Nintendo's shoulders. Sadly enough, the consumer wanting one is playing the price.
It could be that, AND they love the hype. What looks more popular? A console that there is alot of? Or a console that is constantly selling out.

Ricky states truths.
Nintendo just better be careful on how long they want this hype to last, because soon (and I'm sure already) people are going to get tired of waiting for a Wii and just choose a 360 or PS3.
I think they know what they are doing, they aren't stupid. But I can see why that would be a concern. Surely they'd be aware of that threat.
2009!

Wii not to meet demand till 2009?

Talk about wanting a Wii and not getting one till 2009, according to an analyst at IDC, Wii supply will not meet demand. The console is the fastest-selling new system for nearly a decade.

yea the Wii sales will blatantly rise after nintendo sorts their warehouses out and shops can start properly stocking them Big Grin
2009 that's way too long. I say by the end of the year Nintendo will have everything under control.
*Agrees with Ricky*

Plus the Wii is still tearing up the opposition.

I totally agree... those people must have made that assumption when they were smoking some pot or something...

Even if it was to be that far away, I'm sure that they would have more companies manufacturing Wii's instead of just 1 (or however many they have at the moment).

They're (Wii's) still sold out, while I can go pick up a USED PS3 at gamestop...
