Wii Owners in Japan recently woke up to find two surprise visitors in their Mii Channel. Mii avatars of Sanma Akashiya (Better known as just "Sanma") a popular comedian and Shuuzou Matsuoka, a former professional tennis player, were distributed by Nintendo over the WiiConnect24 service to every Wii in Japan. Why these two celebrities? They both appear in a much-talked-about Wii commercial in Japan where they are seen joking around as they fashion their own images using the Mii channel. The Sanma Matsuoka Miis can be kept as extra players on the Wii, but they only appear once, so Nintendo warns users to be careful about giving them away.

Yeah, since there eventually will be connectivity between the DS and Wii, that would be nice. About the celeb miis, maybe Nintendo Power will send us some Mr. T or Chuck Norris Miis... Lol

I'm hoping it will be a character like Mario, Luigi, or Link with the correct costume for each including the hats, which will in turn open up more costumes for us to use on your miis. Hope is the key word, wishful thinking is more like it.
