It was one year ago today that the Revolution became the Wii. Since then many jokes have been made at the expense of the name, I've made a few myself. A lot of people hated the change in name and some still do. Others thought it was a cool concept and made complete sense. The name change was the
first WiiLoaded post topic. No matter your opinion on the name you can't help but notice how much more publicity this system got after the name changed. Marketing genius by Nintendo perhaps? I can still remember the first time I saw the name. I thought it would be pronounced "why" and I was thinking that exact same thing. Then when I found it that the correct pronunciation of it was "we" I was kind of speechless. Who would name their system this? The name grew on me over time and I actually prefer it now more than when it was called Revolution.

Yeah I remember for the first few weeks when the name was released, everyone thought it was going to be the end for Nintendo... but until people started getting used to it an the annoying puns died down, it turned out pretty all-right

I remember when it first came out, Me and my friends hated the name but eventually got use to it.
I didn't like the name, but now its much easier to say than REVOLUTION, Each time, but I would still like it more than Wii.
Speaking of which, I wonder if they named "Pokemon Battle REVOLUTION" because that was the name of the system, but they just kept it because "Pokemon Battle Wii" sounds kinda lame
Ya, maybe your right. But Pokemon Battle Revolution sounds alot better.
Since I dont like to talk about Pokemon at school, for

Purposes. So when I'm talking with my other friend about it, I just say Diamond/Pearl. Not the Front, thats why I will just say PBR. xD
lol. my friends i play PKMN and dont even harass me about it.
When my friends and I talk about Pokemon we just say it quietly but I have some friends that are Seniors in High School and played Pokemon Red in a car ride to Mississippi.
wow...i remember when I first heard about the name change. I didn't care at all. I personally liked Wii and I still like it now.
I didn't like the name as much in the beginning either, but then it grew on me more.
lol. my friends i play PKMN and dont even harass me about it.
I guess your friends, are the coolest bunch in school.
I remember that post. My name back then was DaDillsta_WiiMan. xD. I later forgot the password and e-mail and completely restarted. Congrats on the 1 year!
When I first heard about it, I was shocked, appalled, sickened, yet curious.
Eventually (well, 2 days later) I accepted the name. My dad wouldn't stop making his "wiitarded" jokes, but I stuck through. And now, the Wii is a complete hit.
i praised ninty for their name-changing. wii is 3 less sylables than revolution and revo sounds kinda odd and i had been calling it that since it was unvieled and it hadn't grown even paper-thin on me nearly a year later. my computer seems to think that when wii starts a sentance it's pronounced "way" and then changes it back and forth between "why" and "wii" when it's in mid sentance. i loathe crappy apple and their horrid mac osx.
I didn' have a clue today is such a great day.Thanks for telling me.Wii sounds more friendly than Revolution,don't you? You know what?Even if the name wasn't Wii but Revolution,I would get it.I like moving a Wii rimote controller,messaging to Wii friends and the like!

I think they did the name change from revolution because it was easier to pronounce Wii in other countries.
I think they changed it bause it was planned all along.
:l
Revolution=Codename
Wii=Final name
I thought Japan was more special. Next console iiT.
