i was browsing the site signed in as a guest (because i was too lazy to sign in

) and noticed there are 5-7 times more advertisements per page compared to being signed in
is the site designed like that or is there a problem with it and none of us have noticed because we're always signed in?
It's made like that to encourage guests to create an account and get rid of the ads.
how do they know the ads will go down if they join?
I think it says something like: "Tired of ads? Join now or log in to make them disapear" under each one.
Moved to website discussion in case someone has a similar question.
Guests ads increase the operating capabilities of the site (increased ad revenue means better servers, more development, etc) and encourages guests to register (thus removing the ads). It strikes the balance between enough ads to operate and few enough ads to not irritate the visitors.
so instead of flat out having 7 ads per page, we put 5 or so on the non-member page and only 2 or so on the member's page to even it out. how sly

This is similar to the method that Smashboards uses. Where they have a fair few ads, but if you pay to be a member they will go away.
Except ours is better because membership is free :3 lol.
Well the regular one is free.
But if you send me $50 I can hook you up with a Platinum WiiLoaded membership card.

And for 100$ you can get the Ultimate Platinum Membership. (UPM)
It gives you access to PM anyone >.>
have you tried to PM everyone? How do you know you can? Better just buy the membership.
^-- that was a sarcastic comment
Unless of course you'd send me money >.>
