My friend wants a 360, but he dosen't have a HDTV does he really need a HDTV, or should he just buy one if he really wants one.
no, an HDTV is not necessary. he could buy a 360 now and eventually save up for an HDTV that costs around the same as the 360.
I don't have an HDTV, but my 360 still looks great on my SDTV.

for most people on this board, the 360 is their secondary console, so it doesnt surprise me.
