As of april 24th 2007, a new earth like palnet was discoverd.

"...present might maintain liquid water and therefore be suitable for life as we know it." -wikipediea.org

could this mean there is life on Gliese 581-c?

Just stay away from the beach.....the waves are 40 times bigger....and it would take 20 years to travel to...and I think somewhere in wiki it said that its hotter than Venus...

nobody has anything to say about this?
it would actually take 20.5 LIGHT years to travel to, its in a different galaxy. I heard that it MAY have water in liquid form, because the temperature may be 0-40 celcius (water freezes at 0 and boils at 100).

But I dont think we will be seeing anything more of it in our lifetime... 1 light year= approx. 300,000,000 miles ( I think), so take 300mil times 20.5... thats how many miles away it is. I dont even think my ti-83 calculator can handle that big of a number...

This is a little off topic, but did you know that if we were to create something that could travel faster than the speed of light, we could fly deep deep deep into space, and then look back at our earth (with a huge telescope) and see our earth as it was 5000 years ago? (or however far you may be from it). Because there is a star so far away, but we still see the light from it, but it takes the light 1000 years to travel here, so that star could have died 100 years ago, but it will still be visible and glowing for another 900...

SPACE IS CRAZY STUFF
oh and I also heard the size is about 1.5 times greater than our earth, it has more gravity and it's sun is smaller than ours, but it is closer to it
