Just wondering if anyone here has had any success modding their Wii's. I was just curious because I was just looking into that. Thanks
When you say, modded, do you mean modchipped? If so, then yes. It was a fairly straightforward procedure (though I had someone else with more experience install it) and though I haven't tested the functionality much, I did manage to play a burned copy of my actual copy of Super Paper Mario. I prefer to use copies and protect the originals from scratches/etc (I do the same with DVDs).
but let us not forget that WiiLoaded does not necessarily condone the use of modchips or hacks. information provided here is simply that, informational, and i'm sure joker will agree that WiiLoaded will take no responsibility for any problems or legal issues that spawn from modchips or hacks
Nope. I haven't modded my Wii, and I don't plan to, either. I like it just the way it is.
I started to just put a little winking smilie here but thought that it would be too much like spamming. So you can count yes for me as I have done so. Wink
Yes, modding is legal from what I can tell, but pirating software is not! I have no problem with posting any information within the legal limits for informational purposes. And of course, if you break your wii by modifying it, you alone are responsible.

Same here, If I was to mess with it, I would break it. 0_o

Well if I did I would send it out to be modded, I wouldnt touch it. I know a few people who would mod my Wii.
get a contract if that's the case. there are many things that can go wrong when modding a gaming console and none will be fixed by Nintendo. writing up a contract (which would need to be EXTREMELY well written) will cover you if something goes wrong by placing responsibility on the modder. that way he'll be responsible if it craps out on you after the mod's installed

i'm not very noligible as far as legal work, but as some of you have noticed in some of my more professional posts, i can write things in a very professional demeanor. if you want me to draft something up for you, i'll squeeze some time in. my midterm's done at school, so i've got a bit of free time, although there are somethings i'm working on for the weekend...

Yeah i thought about modding it briefly but then I realized that if is messed it up i would be without a wii and I still cannot find them around anywhere.
I wouldn't recommend just anyone to try to do it. It's best to let someone with knowhow try it and then you must know that there is some risk involved as with most things.
You people, honestly, should be ashamed of yourselves. I would never mod my Nintendo Wii with some foreign chip. Not only is it illegal, but it's a disgrace to Nintendo.
It's not illegal to mod your Wii, only to play pirated software on it. That would be like modding your sensor bar to make it longer or modding your Wiimote to have a blue light, etc...

I only found this funny because your username is the same name as a popular Wii Mod Chip Toungue

To add to that, I'd rather not have our members arguing over the ethics of modifying your systems. One group will say that it's not illegal to do it, and it unlocks features (ie Region Coding) that should have been available, while the other will argue that it was locked for a reason, and that the real reason for modchips is to play illegal backups on your system. It will go back and forth all day, with neither side convincing the other to change their point of view.

Of course, WiiLoaded, nor it's staff, will ever condone the use of illegal backups. However, as long as what you're discussing is not illegal, we have a duty to provide the most complete information on every aspect of the Wii. As it stands, modifying your Wii, despite the gray moral area and the certain warranty void, is not illegal. Any post describing how to find, download, distribute, or anything else of the like concerning illegal backups, however, will be removed.

I wouldnt like to mess with my wii in any way at all.Im just so predictable for messing things up.
Because im useless like that
Mine is :0) I also put a neato skin on it:
