Escape From Bug Island finally has a rating according to Gamestop. The game will be rated M for Mature and is scheduled to be released 5/15/07. I have been wanting to play this game every since I found out about the Wii, and it was only released in Japan. Eidos is said to be fixing out all the bugs before they release this in an American release, but we will only have to wait a few days to find out. The description from Gamestop says:

As Ray, you wake up alone in a deep and fog covered forest. Your friends are nowhere to be found. It was supposed to be a cozy night camping in the woods…until strange creatures rose from the darkness… You must find your friends, survive the horrific forest and get off the island in one piece.

Survive the dark island of Beelzebub in this 3rd person survival-horror adventure where eerie life forms will turn your camping getaway into a nightmare. Penetrate the darkness with your flashlight; fight your way through the forest in search of your friends using the advanced Wii Remote and Nunchuk™.

I believe the game will be a good release if they actually DID take the time to work out the technical bugs and things. (Not real bugs of course, wouldn't want escape from BUG Island without bugs now would we?). Now all we have to do is wait and find out for ourselves.
I've been reading the new playtests on IGN and they've said that there is a vast improvement over the Japanese release. Maybe i'll give this a rent.
I really would like to see this game do well, but i just know that it will suck...
not to bothered about this game...it sucked in japan and will continue to suck when released else where.
Well the reason it sucked in Japan is because no one really wanted it and the controls were said to be "Tank Controls", and this was supposed to be fixed for our U.S. release.
How much can they really improve this game for the US release.
Enough to be playable and fun.
But I have to burn 8 gigs on CDs that are only 659MB so I have work to do, I'll check in while the CDs are burning.
I still don't think they can do it. Part of the reason is the little effort they but into the US box art.
I think they will, but I'll never have a Wii to test that theory.
So you still haven't gotten a Wii.
And my mom said she isn't buying one, apparently the plan backfired, and I'm stuck without one for the whole flippin' summer.
Woah, time to please your mom (please don't take that out of context). You'd better start helping out around the house, doing chores and your homework, sucking up whenever you get the chance. Make some kind of deal with her or let her try a display one and hope she gets addicted to it.
The thing is that won't work either, because she doesn't have the money because she spends it all on college and bills.
College and Bills? What's so important about College and Bills? A Wii is way more important. Show your mom so screens of the upcoming Brain Age/Brain Academy games and show her how educational they are. Now the power bill is the only biggie I see for you though, unless you solar power the Wii but then you have to worry about the Wiimote misreading and whatnot. Oh the dilemma...
Well, it's set. I'm getting one sometime in June if I do chores and things, apparently she changed her mind. I also am going to see about a Summer job tommorow, so that'll be extra for games. Toungue
See, sucking up, doing your chores and homework do work. Oh yeah, getting a job helps. Toungue You should get Bug Island just because you posted in here and then your mom decided that you could get it. Pay homage to the greatness of Escape from Bug Island!
Oh yeah, I'll definently be picking it up the day it comes out because I have though it was an interesting concept since I seen the first Japanese website and gameplay video.
I'm going to rent it...good luck getting a Wii DaDillsta
Thank you. I know I will need it, I've got to work up the money. Toungue
1UP Review 2.1/10

Quote:
A couple of moments do feel inspired when compared to the rest of the wreckage. Traversing crevice-spanning logs requires you to keep balance by twisting the Wii-mote to remain aligned with a finicky meter. Also, not to spoil the closest thing to a puzzle, but logs again come into play in a mildly clever way (again, that's all relative to the rest of game). Unfortunately, you'll probably play these sections, as well as the countless bad ones, far too often thanks to the shoddy save system (you can save only after completing a level or at the sparse save lamps). Likewise, a several-seconds load between the pause screen and inventory and equipment access is just long enough to make the simple act of switching to a gun or eating a health-replenishing mushroom a chore.

Bug Island fails and frustrates so thoroughly throughout its 10-plus-hour playtime that its greatest feat may be fooling someone into finishing it who isn't paid to do so. It's easily the Wii's worst showing yet.
