I am going to. A soon as my comp is fixed and I install PS >.<
O_O
Make me one! Pretty please.
So I was thinking about getting the R4. Can anyone recommend a reliable, cheap vendor?

My friend has an M3 Lite, which as most of you probably know uses Slot 2. I like the idea of not having to swap the Slot1 cart for a real DS cart if I wanted to play one, but on the other hand it's not that hard to just swap it out. Any feedback on the pros/cons of Slot1 vs Slot2 would be nice. Anyone?

Back to R4. Any good sites you would recommend for finding homebrew and emulator software as well as general info on those subjects?
Slot-1 Let's you play DS games.
Slot-2 Let's you play GBA games.
What, there's no in-between? Do you mean to say slot 1 cannot play GBA games, and slot 2 cannot play DS games? Not even with some sort of additional software/emulator loaded on it?

(I'm pretty sure my friend with the M3 Lite was playing DS games from it).
You can patch a Slot-2 cartridge to play DS games.
What about if you could get a GBA emulator on a slot 1 card?
R4/M3 owners... How would you rate the DLDI/homebrew support?
...Waiting for my R4...
I just dled a SNES emulator on my M3.
Super Metroid on the go FTW.
Woot! I just got my R4DS today... Been exploring homebrew apps... Yumz.

I've searched around, and apparantly it's impossible.

It works perfectly. You just have to remember to patch the homebrew apps so that they work. Although I've yet to finda very useful homebrew application worth keeping. There is a free homebrew web browser, although it's still in either the Alpha or Beta stages and I didn't have much luck in getting it to work.

I tried a SNES emulator but most (if not all) the games don't play properly. I just decided it's not worth the trouble.

That's what I'm finding out, but you know there's only a small handful of GBA games I like (or play regularly) anyway. So I'm not worried about it.

Actually, with R4DS, there's a new "kernel" update that does auto-DLDI-patching. It's freakin awesome. As far as homebrew apps, I've found a few that are very useful and rather well-made. A few pretty good homebrew games, too.

You're right about the emulators, though. I mean they're not horrible. they're playable, just some of the layering of the sprites is a bit off and sound doesn't work for ****. I usually play with the sound off anyway. It's still a pretty new/small scene though, so I'm sure eventually there will be better versions. For now, they do what I want (however not as pretty as a PC emulator, or the real thing) so that's good enough for me.

Oy. Don't get me going on sound. I think it was Chrono Trigger, or A Link to the Past where the sound was so terrible that it would make your ears bleed. And in one of the games there was a constant high pitched screech over top of everything else that you really had no choice but to play with no sound.
It was A Link to the Past, I believe.

Someone really just needs to grab the source for snes9x and rip out all the unneeded crap like being able to turn on/off layers and sprites and screen shots and sound bite dumping. And the GUI/menu system for that matter, just use simple text menu on lower screen like what snemulds uses. Basically just slim it down to be usable on DS and compile it with the appropriate DS libs... Did I miss anything? Why start all over from scratch? Port snes9x!

^^

BTW, did I mention that R4DS with it's auto-DLDI-patching kernel is teh pwn??
If I knew anything at all about how the emulator was coded, and how to turn it into a working .nds file, I'd try it.

lol. this stuff is like 10x easier than modding an xbox.

It's pretty much just insert SD card in computer, drag and drop, put card into DS. Done.

GTFO!!!! STFU!!! WTFBBQ!!

ok no seriously it really cant be THAT simple....can it?

i downloaded like 1000 DS games (in .NDS format?) so all i have to do is unzip them and then put them on the transflash cards, onto the DS cartridge and viola? the game plays????????

wow....just simply wow....and here i am thinking its a real pain in the ass with all these technical things....way to over analyze jill....

Yup, that's it. Smile
And I'd suggest you look into the Real. It does everything the R4 and M3 Simply did, only it's supposed to be bug free (I doubt that but I'll bet it does have less problems than the older two), and supports the high capacity micro SD cards. Meaning 4 gigs and up. As far as I know the R4 and Simply dont support cards larger than 2GB.
