But Palkia is faster and has higher special stats. Palkiacould easily take Dialga out with Earth Power.

Dialga is Dragon/Steel with higher HP & Defense.It is resistant to 12 of the 17 types. Palkia is Water/Dragon and has high Sp. Def & Speed. I's only real weakness are dragon attacks. Plus it knows a powerful ground attack that could weaken Dialga because it's part steel. Being water also helps, because water attacks have an above average effect on steel pokemon.
I don't care who's "technically" better.

Steel Types are FTW..in some cases.
steel types have many resistences but because Dialga is part dragon it takes away from its advantage points.
