I am really smart with computer except Mac's ive never studied one but im great with windows XP, Office, not really Professional but if you have any questions just ask.

That's where you're going wrong right away. The words good and free don't come together when dealing with computers. Unless you pirate of course.

Zonealarm is one of the best firewalls I've ever used and best of all the basic version is free (http://www.zonelabs.com)

If you need a free antivirus Google is giving away Norton Anti Virus 2005 with 6months of subs (http://pack.google.com)

actually norton sucks. big time.

and zonealarm is the worst firewall solution i have ever tried.
windows firewall works better than zone alarm.


as for best free antivirus google AVG Free.

for best free firewall, erm. well. get one free when you upgrade your computer. use your old pc as the fire wall .
but really the best idea for a firewall is a decent router, with mac filtering and ip blocking, and domain blocking and url blocking, and taking a week to set the damn thing up because it wan'ts to save and reboot after you add every single exclusion.

in conclusion, kerio have a free for personal use software firewall, it's shall we say interesting to set up, but very good. but for piece of mind you really need a hardware firewall.

according to microsoft it's impossible to bridge network connections on windows 2k. but to get my game cube online i have to do some windows 2k network bridging, how can i do this?

The only thing that I can think of is a program like WinGate, but its not free

i use sygate personal firewall. it does an incredible job. i suggest trying that one out.

I have AVG, Spybot Search and Destroy, AdAware and Zonealarm, and they are all free.

yeh, though I never really got on with it, It didn't like Xbox live last time I tried it :S

I tried Sygate personal Firewall in my opionion its the worst thing I have ever seen it messsed up my comp and finnaly I can go back on I got it yesterday and deleted it today... back to AVG free

Is ok Norton is ok so is AVG.

I cant quote for some reason so Greaser Lee whenever I would try to go onto anything it would ask do you want to block it for EVERYTHING! and then i accendently did it for internet explorer and I couldnt go on internet explorer well it doesnt matter I use FireFox well back to AVG

thats the beauty of it, IMO. sygate's literally catching everything that coming or going through your computer and always asks for your approval to block it or not.

if you accidentally blocked something, you could have easily unblocked it too. and AVG is just an anti-virus. it wont block malicious sites from downloading stuff into your computer, but it will catch the virus only when you run a virus check. kinda useless if you ask me.

i will admit that it could be pretty difficult to navigate and understand some of the menus and stuff, but once you learn it, just like everything else, it becomes 2nd nature.
