The Rooster is about to fall into some money soon and has decided to buy an Xbox 360. (Don't try to convince me otherwise. I'm going to do it and that's that!)
But now the Rooster has a problem. Should the Rooster buy the Xbox 360 Premium or the Elite. Understand that the Rooster does not have a TV with an HDMI output but plans to buy lots of demos and stuff over Xbox Live.
Help the Rooster decide! And the Rooster may frag you in Halo over the internet someday

I say get the Elite, it looks cooler.

If you have the money, get the elite, the premium has only a 20 gb HDD, elite has 120. its only 80 bucks more, and seperately the 120 gb HDD costs 180 bucks, so you are saving 100 bucks right there, not to mention the fact that it DOES have an HDMI port, incase you ever get a new tv. plus like cloud said it does look cooler... and Im not sure if its true, but I also heard that it is literally cooler, (doesn't overheat as easily)
well yeah those are good reasons...but I also have to consider games and Xbox Live fee. The Premium would give me extra money for XBL, extra controllers etc. But then again...I'll probably buy the Elite. But I need a few more opinions before I decide...
The elite is worth the 50 extra dollars in the end...
And also, if your gonna be a big live person, you should get the extra storage!

the 360 elite is $80 more than the premium, and if you don't have an HDMI port on ur TV good luck finding a way to connect one. for the $80 more the elite costs you you can buy an extra 360 HDD. premium is likely your best option for your position.
how much moneez are joo gonna land on?
no, you will never frag me on halo unless Msoft stops requiring payment for an overrated online service and spends the extra $5/console and includes wi-fi.
I would get the Premium (oh yeah, I did already). My TV does have HDMI but I didn't think the Elite was worth the money. I can upgrade my Premium's HDD for less, and I'm not that worried about HDMI. Hope that helps!
demos and XBLA trial games are free, so you can d/l, delete, and re-d/l them again if you ever feel like playing them again. i've never felt the need to d/l a demo again nor keep it in my HDD for longer than 2 weeks. movies are rentals and tv shows are purchased. i've never rented a movie, but i have d/l'ed free tv shows; i've ended up deleting those too.(you do not need to re-purchase tv shows)
i still have about 10GB free and i've had my system since launch. i've d/l'ed extra content for quite a few games and have bought a few XBLA games. you really need to think ahead and see what exactly youre gonna use the 120GB HDD for, because that's really the main upgrade on the elite. the reason MS included HDMI on the elite is because not all HDTV's were able to output at 1080p using components or VGA. now with all that said, if i didnt have a 360, i'd get the elite. it's just a better bang for the buck.

the elite comes with components, RCA, and HDMI cables. he wont have issues unless he a stickler for s-video output. lol
I'd go with Premium. As grease said, you'll delete your demos, and the Elite (to me) isn't worth it. Especially if you don't have an HDTV. Mainly you'll use the system for games right? Well get the Premium, and download arcade games and get a few controllers/games.
now people are rooting for the Premium! The Rooster is getting confused again! And you all have such convincing arguments!

sorry, didn't know that. well, one thing done right with the 360...
and unless i'm mistaken: RCA=composite cables (red/white/yellow-audio </audio >/video)
Yes, RCA=composite (red=right audio channel, white=left audio channel, yellow=video), but I don't see what that has to do with anything.
OK, I personally have the elite I think it is as is expected an awesome gaming machine. No difference hardware wise than the white xbox except for the extra 100Gigs. One question you want to ask yourself is, What are you planning on using your xbox for? If you are just a gamer I would go with the premium, for 80 bucks cheaper you can get a controller or xbl, or even put in a $25 for both. Of coarse if you think about it xbl isn't as expensive as ps3 fanboys like to make it sound, 50 bucks a year isn't bad at all. If you are more of a media guru then I would go with the extra storage in the elite. It also just depends on what financial situation you are in. If you don't have so much go with the premium so you can get the extra stuff and some games with it.
and about the composite thing, If I am mistaken composite is standard for all tv's hdtv or not, and gaming systems. The extra cables are just for viewing preference. I like my xbox games on both my 37" hdtv and my other tv, ya hdtv looks nicer but looks are only a small portion, I mean I still love playing mario on the super nintendo.
And wenis it does run cooler, It may not be as cool as the new chip, but I have played it for 6hrs straight and mabe a little heat on the back vents, and towards the back on top. But you will never have to worry about heating issues if you keep it in a well ventilated area. The main reason ppl say the xbox overheats is because those ppl stack it with other stuff in there entertainment centers.
Well there is my two cents, hoped that helped rooster.
Get the Elite. I have friends that all have Elites and they say it is worth it.
I'd get the Elite but for all the wrong reasons. Just because of the larger hard drive and it being newer and different (as I said all the wrong reasons). I have an 80gb Video iPOD that is currenly only using about 15% of the total space. Sure I have a tone of CDs that I need to rip to it but doubt I'll come close to filling it up.
if the elite was out at the time i bought thpremium, i wouldve gotten the elite, just for the extra space
If you plan on downloading a lot and you've got the money then I say get the Elite. I also plan on getting a 360 later on, but that will probably be the regular one and once the price drops just a bit.
Get the elite, it's worth $80.
Get an extended warranty, don't end up like me.
Well when the price drops, I think the 120Gig hdd drive will be default drive for the 360.
It totally depends on how much money you got.I say go with the elite if you can afford that little extra, but only if you have enough money left over to get some decent games and some controllers + XbL.
