Well it says Pit is an angel that can not ordinarily fly so maybe that is there reasoning.

Still, its not that. I didn't flying would be his actual Up+B move. I thought flying would be done like Kirby and Jiggs instead of being done by Up+B.

i guess they couldnt think of a move, i wonder if metaknight will be the dame cause he doesnt have any apparent recoving move.

LemonManX Wrote:
And will he be able to direct where he goes as he uses Up+B... doesn't seem possible if you ask me...

well obviously he will be able to control it, the website gives u a hint and says not to fly to long, who would want to fly moving straight up? i know ur gonna say "but nintendo didnt announce if he will or not" STOP IT! logic can answer this question too

I know that, I was just saying that it would make sense if that wasn't the case.
how would it make sense though?
that you couldnt control it?
If he could fly naturally, then he wouldn't need that as his Up special move. Similar to Jigglypuff and Kirby, their bodies allow them to go into the air on their own. But that's not the case now.
y would that make sense? they know the smart thing to do would be to let him be controllable while doing his up b

*waits for flaming of what i just said*

Well it says he's an angel who can't fly, so I suppose that;s why. Could he fly in Kid Icarus?

He couldn't fly regularly in the game, no. But if you purchased a feather item, once having fallen off the bottom of the screen, the item guides him back up for a chance to find a secure platform. It was a use item.
Also once he retrieved the fourth treasure, Wings of Pegasus you fly through the last level.
Unfortunately, I've not gotten so far, always die due to Eggplant Wizards.
Here's a site with a list of his items from the original game: Kid Icarus Items
We may be able to figure out some other new moves for Brawl from this list.

I think he was referring to the fact that Pit uses his wings as his Up+B.

That much surprises me, as I just thought you'd tap the jump button to drift up (like Jiggs and Kirby) but apparently not.

I was thinking the same. It would be fun to flap around and then snipe someone with the arrows. But the choice makes sense considering his ability to fly in the original game, as mentioned above. Also is a little more true to the mythological Icarus.

But he would be in control of flying anyway if he could fly. He would be in control either way.

didnt they show him regular flapping his wings in the first video shown in 2006 may? metaknight was chasing after him, but in the air

Yes they did, which is why I am very confused right now.
Just read the official site again...

The "Wings of Icarus" allow Pit to fly freely through the sky!

In actuality, though, Pit is an angel who cannot ordinarily fly.
After a while, he will fall, so be careful.

"Wings of Icarus" = the "Wings of Pegasus" from original game.

Considering the orignal game's item uses and this description, it sounds to me that the B up move will trigger a brief period where Pit will be able to fly. You hit that and then maybe continue to do so to flap wings briefly. That would make sense.

That makes perfect sense.

Thats what I was thinking too. Thank you DBI for clearing this up.
Final Smash, only usable via an item. YAY! IT IS CONTROLLABLE!!

LemonManX Wrote:
Either way, they suck. It should just be his jump.

*Marks a negative against Pit's name*

Makes it better... now he's less godly, which results in a less definitive tier. =D

do you know what pit's move of allowing you to control his trajectory is the same as? Ness's lighting bolt thing it said that the the arrow will be the speed of light it will be fast...just like Ness's or even faster

In brawl for alot of the characters the makers are just taking chars away and making new chars with the same ability or taking some away and giving some of the old char's skills to some of the new chars....nothing new

I'd say it's like Link's boomerang, and I'd say detaching your weapon is definitely something new.

I thought the first trailer confirmed that? <_<

Things confirmed:
- It's called a Smash Ball
- You can only use it once
- You can choose when you want to use it
- Hanging on the edge would probably own everyone's final smash

i wonder if aa character is in mid-final smash, another person can interfere, if they are able to avoid it.
Ahahaha. For some reason I'd love to see Mario's Final Smash against Fox's Reflector.
Yes, I know that doing Reflector would be a hopeless cause, but it wouldn't hurt to try.... Right?
EDIT:

Yeah... Well... Whatever.

Even thought there wasn't much on the Smash Ball, I still find it a nice little tease. It looks pretty, too. So I'll be attracted to it like a moth to a flame. Good job Nintendo, you've made me a Smash Ball whore. (Despite it being only use-able once.)
