the footstool just is a clever idea, i wonder if you go a lot higher than you would on a normal jump, and whether it counts as an extra jump?
2 jumps
1 foot stall jump <----- higher?
1 ^b jump... (i dont know the name :S)
this could make fighting more interesting but like LM-X said it could be quite risky for no reason...
With Yoshi it doesn't really look like it since he can go a little higher especially with his Egg Toss now giving him a boost
idk... i dont like it...its gay
Wow. Best explanation ever...
Anyway, I was discussing with Ricky on MSN. And we agree that it may be useful in team matches, but in singles. I doubt it'll be a commonly used technique.
team matches... i hadn't thought of that...
would it cause damage?
if so could you do it to your team mate for survival?
I assume it would still have the same affect, meteor smash and all. But at least with it, you can give your team mate a glimmer of hope for recovering if you are too low to do so and your team mate is conveniently above your head...
i think it could be useful in one-on-one. it'd depend how powerful it is.
The toadstool jump looks like some good fun.
Jumping on characters like Wario and Bowser will be easy, but someone like Zamus or Snake... they're not very wide i forsee many misses as people learn to use it.
I also love Big Blue and I want to see it return

Nice. I find us often agreeing, W_R!
I hope we can still do Meteor Smashes the normal way though. I don't see this being useful in one-on-one as edge guarding is a safer way of killing people.
I imagine this "footstool jump" will be a part of edgeguarding. Tell me how it's any different than using Falcon's dair to edgeguard.
imo it'll kinda be easier to edgeguard cause its jumping and timing. which is something you have already from edgeguarding in Melee.
I will probably use this most when I am trying to get back to the edge of the stage.
hm. i wonder if this can be used when someone's trying to spike u and u jump off them instead, sending them down
thats if theres someone esle trying to get back as well. i wonder if the weight of the character has any effect.
i love it. why?
more often enough, if you miss a spike you could recover with that toadstool jump!
As LM stated, one on one this thing is virtually useless. The place I see this working is co-operatively. Say Mario's FS is coming and say me and LM are on a team. Obviously from what I've heard LM is better than I am so instead of us both getting hit, he would just footstool jump off of my head and evade the attack while I was incinerated. :3
That seems like a good plan. Just make the weaker one be the "toadstool".

1. I still don't understand how this footstool jump is any different from any other meteor in the game, thus making it not useless.
2. Why would you be playing with Final Smahes on. Lol.
1. There are safer, better, and more efficient ways of guarding the edge. So yes, it's useless.
2. Every match we play isn't going to be a tournament style match. Do you expect any of us to play Brawl without turning on Final Smashes at least once? Exactly.

Well to start with, it sounds like a footstool jump will depend on timing, whilst Falcon's dair is easy to pull off.
In the end I'd go with the reliable one.

Much more precise timing is already required in smash than just jumping at the right time.

It is for me, heh.
