Ohhh my god ohhhh my god!!!!! Its finnaly true, starcraft II has officialy been announced by Blizzard at 11pm PT yesterday at the Blizzard Worldwide International event.
The panel answered questions on numerous topics, including Starcraft II's development history, which Pardo expained "started shortly after Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne" back in 2003. According to Pardo, the game is "very far along," and that the game is already playable in multiplayer will all three factions. When asked about the release date, Pardo gave the answer you may have come to expect from Blizzard: "The game will be released when it's ready."
According to the panel, the game is apparently being developed by a team of approximately 40, though on the matter of the budget and the schedule, Morhaime simply said, "We don't really have a budget; we'll spend as much time and resources as we need to make this game great."
The panel also confirmed that the sequel will have only the three factions of the protoss, terrans, and zerg--there will be no fourth faction
the game will support Pixel Shader 2.0 graphics and PCs with either Windows XP or Vista
Morhaime also pointed out that the new development proved that Blizzard "wasn't just a massively multiplayer company" that would rest on the laurels of the highly successful World of Warcraft.

No they aren't. That was rumored before they announced StarCraft II itself. Blizzard stated they will only have one MMO at a time and for now (and at least 10 years they say) World of Warcraft is the only MMORPG they'll have.
i think a world of metroid would be awesome, but it's only petty wishful thinking.
back on topic: i knew it was coming, it was already mentioned by a few places that it was confirmed to be about to be confirmed, but now it's officially been officialized. cool. i think my eyeballs tried to jump onto my computer screen when i opened up that screenshot. unless they add in cheats like the 1st game i'll never survive the single player and i'll be hated on battle.net, but i have to get this game anyway. i suck at RTSs.

if i become some rich-ass bastard i'm gonna buy out retro studios and hire up a bunch of people from blizzard and set up my dream game. if there is ever a world of metroid rest assured i watched over its creation. i've already got the entire thing planned out in my head, and it's all way too complicated to explain here, so check around and in about 20-50 years you might find out what i've planned in the form of my game. now i just need to marry one of the wal-mart heirs, preferably female.

Hehe, I just re-installed Diablo II+ expansion and Starcraft after hearing the announcement. It is too, one of my favorite games of all times. I'll proly have to make a new Bnet account tho.

the SC2 announcement is new. there hasn't been an official announcement of SC2 yet. aLOT of people anticipated it, but it's only just now official. there's also supposed to be a new MMO in the making which has nothing to do with WoW, but no news on that
and yes, Koreans are crazy about SC. they've had several reports of people dying because they didn't eat while playing SC. it's kinda like the DnD of Korea
