A better question would be, "how will the characters be presented?". Toys like SSB, trophies like SSBM, or maybe a new idea... like statues?

Honestly I don't know, maybe they'll bring back trophies.
I think what Ricky says here just shows that they most likely will return, because of the idea of the series that all the characters are coming out of toy versions of them. As if they are figurines come to life from a child or person's imagination to battle it out.
So yes, Trophies will return in one form or another!

Sorry if it is. I only skimmed the posts. Its just that is how the game is presented theme-wise, so it's likely that they will continue on that path.

Yeah i mean in Melee the Mario figurine was picked up by a hand (assuming that is a child) and wuz brought to life like in the first SSB. Dont really know wut they will be doing this time around tho. Maybe 3d animated mini holograms of characters.....just a thought...
in melee they would "trophies" thrown into a colosseum to fight, so the idea is still, i wonder what they;ll do in brawl

the badges would be for the "u unlocked ______", "u played 5000 vs matches", "u beat classic mode on very hard with no continues", etc.

Semi-Transparent but you could walk or move the camera around them and see the background through them or something else. Another idea, though somewhat sadistic, what if you had a trophy room like a hunter's trophy room with the heads of the characters on the wall? C'mon, it's sadistic but the sig above me is BK murdering Ronald so ...

Using this concept would also be a great reference to Nintendo's humble beginnings as a playing card company... and part of smash is referencing and celebrating the legacy of Nintendo, so it could fit in very well.

I don't think either of these would fit into the game or really serve the same purpose as the trophies very well. They are interesting ideas, one cool graphically and one humorous.
How about they keep the trophies/figurines and give them a simple "action" function...? Like action figures of my youth, you push a button and they will swipe their arm or fire a projectile, talk.. So in other words - push the button and Links torso spins performing the spin slash, samus shoots a laser ball from armcannon, ness/pikachu light up, jigglypuff sings, mario talks... (and the talking/singing could even sound boxed like they do in toys!)...
Although some of these things would limit the sculptable shapes of some of the figures, it would be a fun way to further the idea of them as action figures.
I like the idea of the tropihes having a simple action function would be awesome.

That is a really cool idea. Each trophy having there own move is just awesome. That would be sweet to have a Mario trophy and when you click on it, it does Marios Final Smash move.

Well, it seems that most (not all) of us were wrong in assuming that trophies were making a return. We now see that stickers are replacing trophies as rewards. *Requests lox*
