Maybe this is a dumb question, and maybe it's already been asked/answered (but I couldn't find any threads about it).

BUT...

How do I get my Wii to output at 480p? I have a HDTV capable of everything up to and including 1080i. My Wii is currently connected with the standard composite cables it comes with. Do I need to buy a special cable to get 480p? When I go into the screen settings on my Wii, 480p is grayed out, not selectable.

Also, I have the Wii composite cables going through an A/V switch, because my HDTV has 2 component inputs (plus HDMI), but only one composite input. Obviously I have a DVD player and other things that use composite. So the question here is would the A/V switch interfere with doing 480p through composite, if that's even possible?

I was fine with 480i until I bought the new HDTV. But, the HDTV is wide screen and even though my Wii is set to widescreen mode, it seems to pixelate the graphics a bit more than usual in 480i mode. So yeah, any help is appreciated.
I think you need to buy that MadCatz wii hd component cable, but im not entirely sure. but im not sure (i could be wrong on this) that the wii would actually be 'better' on an HDTV, since it can only output 480p(which is Enhanced Definition,) so I would think that playing on a tv that is anything better on it wouldn't really make it look much better

here something like this, only 7 bucks

Yes, in order to do 480p, you will need component cables.

BTW, I paid ~$50 to have mine overnighted back in November from Nintendo. They are worth it.
WOW, I did not realise that you can get FSAA when you use the component cables. that kicks ass
OK, so it does require the component cables. I wasn't sure because it's technically not HD, so I didn't know if it could transmit that signal over composite cables.

Alrighty, well I guess it's time to purchase some composite cables!

Thanks for the help guys.

What's FSAA? I know it's got something to do with Anti-Aliasing, right?
