On April 22nd the next generation of Pokemon arrives in store. This thread will tell you all you need to know about the games and you can discuss anything about them right here. This new generation takes place in the Sinnoh region and it brings the Pokemon count up to 493. The only things that need explanation are the Special Legendaries and Runaway Legendaries. Regigigas a special legendary that can only be caught if have caught all 3 Regis in the Hoenn Pokemon gamesand you have defeated the Sinnoh Elite Four. Any of those 3 games can be in the GBA slot and then you will be able to go the location of Regigigas. If you have met all the requirements for the Manaphy egg in Pokemon Ranger Manaphy will be available from the start. Or you can trade/port Manaphy from Pokemon Ranger. Phione is obtainable by breeding Manaphy with Ditto but Phione doesn't evolve into Manaphy though. Runaway legendaries are those who roam the region that flee from battles if you try to catch them. Also Arceus can be all types thanks to its ability Multi-Type. Whenever Arceus is holding a type palate its ability changes it into that type.
Updated Info
The region of Sinnoh now contains snow terrains with 70% land and 30% water. The Underground region is a constantly connected multiplayer arena. Through the Nintendo DS Wi-Fi Connection, you and your friends can meet up in its tunnels to take each other on. But not in Pokemon battles – in Capture the Flag. Also in the underground region you will be able to collect diamonds, pearls, and stones through a touch screen mini-game to find the best rocks, swapping between a pick axe and hammer to knock away portions of the tunnel walls and revealing the gems within. If it's done wrong the walls will collapse and you won't be able to retrieve anything. The Pal Park. It's a place of reconnection that works as an access point to your past – if you power on Diamond or Pearl in your DS system, and, at the same time, have a Pokemon GBA cartridge plugged into the Game Boy Advance slot, you can reach back into those pak's saved rosters and retrieve your pre-trained pals. You are only able to transport 6 pokemon a day from GBA games.

Update #2
Now, moves aren't restricted by element. Diamond and Pearl have Physical Fighting moves, and Special Fighting moves. And Physical Fire attacks, and Special Fire attacks. It's one more layer of depth that makes a big change in how Pokemon battles play out, and effectively destroys a lot of serious players' previously-trained Pokemon. There will now be wild double battles with you and a trainer. You have to be fast and catch the Pokemon you want before you partner defeats it. Also hhoosing attacks, checking your party status and using items in battle is all touch-controlled now on the DS, with large, stylus-activated icons arranged cleanly on the system's lower screen.

Update #3
Now instead of using Headbutt to attack pokemon out of the tree, you will now use honey. Throughout the region of Sinnoh you can find an item known as Sweet Honey. Just press A on the special colored trees to attract the pokemon found there. Pokeblocks are now a thing of the past. They have been replaced with bread loaves or Poffins for pokemon by bending your berries into the batter. To prepare Poffin you'll use the DS stylus and touch screen to swirl your mixture around quickly, counter-clockwise, and set up each loaf. When it's finished, your creation will be given a level, the higher the level, the more effective it will be when fed to one of your pokemon. Poffins will have the same effects that Pokeblocks did. There are also Super Contests now where two new rounds have been added, which are outward appearance and rhythm. For the first new round you can drag and drop outfits and accessories onto your chosen contestant with the stylus. Hats, ribbons and floral arrangements can be put on your pokemon to improve appearance. In the dance round you'll have to press touch screen buttons to the beat in order to keep your pokemon on its feet.

wow! impresive work. +1 rep.
So many pointless legendaires...
Heatran for example. i remember the good old games when there were only 5 legendary pokemon.
Nice info, they could have easily made some of these legendaries normal pokemon.
and Manaphy and the grass thing arent special legendareis, they are basically the Sinnoh version of Mew. Heatran and the Cresent Pokemon are more like special legendaries cause theres no Kanto, Johto, or Hoenn version of them. Rotom doesnt qualify as a legendary. Yes theres was only one of it but its not a legendary. Darkrai can be considered the Sinnoh version of mewtwo
Legendary Pokemon
hopefully ppl see this and realize what a Manaphy is.

Legendary Pokemon
Shaymin is an Event legendary and Manaphy and Phione are special because they can't be obtained from Diamond/Pearl in the wild, they need to be traded or ported. Heatran is under regular legendaries because he can be caught in Sinnoh just as is and Cresselia is a regular legendary but it's one that roams the region in order to catch it and it will runaway unless you trap it somehow. And Mew would be considered an Event pokemon.
oh. nvm. i had a different understanding of special vs. regular than you did.

I will have to learn more of your Pokemans now. D:
I want a pokemon thats Water/Thunder..
well there is those types but A Good one.
Water/electric you mean and there isn't a new one.
i agree. so many legendaries. the first 3 should've been the cut-off. dragons are sweet, so i'm glad they are using them more, although, since they're legendary they're more than likely banned form tourneys and such. suck. there just aren't many dragon pokemon. especially non-legendary dragons
oh yeah, awesome thread.
*stix'd*
*rep'd*
YAY, and there were 3 new dragon pokemon added to make a total of 13 non-legendary dragon pokemon.
coolz. but the question is, is it just one Pokemon which evolves twice like the Dratini crap? that's not really 3 new Pokemon in my book. cheap way to add the numbers
nvm. found my answer. cheap crap...
Yeah, they really should count it by how many different pokemon there are and then count how many evolved versions there are... or something like that.

Lanturn
Rain Dance
Surf/Hydro Pump (i prefer accuracy over power)
Thunder
(move of choice)
Rain Dance raises the power of water attacks while giving Thunder 100% accuracy.
Thank God, now please people. Stop posting Pokemon threads lol.
sal-good

agreed with Cloud,
I think all the grass starters in every game were weak, bulbasaur was the only semi-descent one though. And a firemonkey just looks weird...
