ok, so here goes my blog. lolz
just got it this weekend and been playing quite a bit. im totally digging it. haven't really put much effort into the performance tuning part of the game, but i have been messing around with some of the other features. my favorite is the "photo mode". although it's loaded with features, and can scare off newbies, it's very simple and intuitive to use. the cool thing about taking these photos is that if you've got an xbox live gold account, you can upload the pictures to forza's official site. from there, you can then save them on your computer and/or load them up into some image hosting site or your own. see the bottom of this post for a screenshot i took.
now for those that quickly scrolled down to see the pic and have returned, let me just say this... i do not like mustangs. i do not like domestic cars. i only got it, because one of the races required me to use a heavy car. so i went with the cheapest thing i could find in the auction. which brings me another one of my favorite new features; the auction house. people put their cars up for auction, and the minimum amount of time you can auction it is 48 hours. i think the max was 6 days. the cool thing about this is that you or other people cannot snipe other bidders. if you bid on a car within the last 2 minutes, the timer resets back to 2 minutes. (maybe ebay should take note.)
so yeah, that's how i won the mustang. it's actually a Shelby Mustang GT500. 500hp monster with god knows how much torque. i cant keep it from spinning out if my life depended on it. i'm sure upgrading to better tires, and a few other things would keep the tail in check, but really, i'm not gonna spend a ton of money on this ugly mofo. i got the car for $11k. the in-game retail was $65k, so i got a pretty good deal.
my all-time favorite feature is the customizable decals for your car(s). they've added sooo many features to this thing that it makes creating works of art a breeze. check out some of the stuff people have already come up with, <LINK>, you otakus out there will probably like a few of them. note that you cannot upload pics from your PC or internet and insert them into the game. everything you see there was created with the in-game tools.
my only gripe with the game is that the sound effects for the engine, exhaust, and tires are too quiet. car crashes sound loud as hell though. also, the rumble is very subtle. there's also no music when you're racing. there is music in the menus and everywhere else in the game, just not while you're racing. it sorta make sense though cuz you're always having to listen to your car's RPMs to know when to shift. if you just have to have music playing while you're racing, then you could always stream your music from your PC or portable music player. i also haven't tried out the online portion. i'm nowhere near ready to start racing against other people. i'm still trying to figure out which car suits me best. most likely, i'll be going with an AWD car. anyway, kudos to you if you read all this.

note: the pic was in no way altered using photoshop. it was all done with the in-game photo filters.
note2: all that damage on the car was done in just my second turn of my first lap. that black thing behind the smoke is my rear bumper.
note3: all car debris stays there for the duration of the race.
