NOTE: This rumor has been proven false.
GamingBits contacted a PR rep for Capcom who confirmed that the Wii version of Resident Evil 4 will have just as much blood and gore as the previous releases. Enjoy.
Thanks NinjaRooster

Prince of Persia: Rival Swords, and now this. According to Next Generation (next-gen.biz) the Wii edition of Resident Evil 4 will be less violent than it's GameCube and PS2 predecesors. The game was recently released in Japan and still carries the "realistic scenes of graphic violence" warning, although this time it's actually on the box instead of in the game itself. This would lead one to believe that the game would be just as if not more violent than before.
Turns out that it's the complete opposite. Most of the blood and gore has been removed while arms and legs can no longer be blown off. Worse yet is that headshots no longer seem to be one shot kills; something that completely goes against common sense and the standard formula for any shooter.
I really can't understand why Capcom would choose to take this direction with the Wii version. Capcom did previously mention that they felt that Wii was for kids but at the same time, the console will never be able to shed this image if developers keep on censoring their Wii games. Let's hope that Rockstar doesn't do that same to Manhunt 2.
Does anyone find this as stupid as I do?
OH WHAT THE F*CK!
Way to friggin' ruin it Capcom! GOD!
I'm pissed off right now! >:E
That is completely stupid, now I might not even get the game because of this. Blowing zombies to bits and headshots are part of the fun. All of that was in the GCN version, why take it out. Hopefully I can still count on No More Heroes because that's suppose to be more violent than Manhunt 2.

Sorry guys...this news is fake. I searched and found this:
Rumors that the Resident Evil 4 Wii release may be toned down sprouted from a posting at Next-gen.biz on the Japanese release of the game. For a second we thought the green/grey blooded days of Nintendo were back.
We contacted Alicia K., a PR representative from Capcom, to clear up the rumored toned down release of Resident Evil 4 for Wii. "RE 4 Wii Edition content in Japan is based on their previous releases," said Alicia, "the US version content will be similar to previous releases here (not talking about any of the Wii Edition functions with the controls of course, just about gameplay content)."
So US gamers can expect the graphical gore that was previously delivered on the GameCube and PS2 releases. Game releases in Japan may censor dismembering, which is evident in the recently released PS3 Ninja Gaiden Sigma demo. If you downloaded the Japanese Ninja Gaiden Sigma demo, you'll see no decapitations from Ryu's wall running, downward slice

YES!
Good. Now I will buy it. Thank god it's not going to be toned down.

did you not read my previous post? it is fake. Basically this game was censored in Japan when released on GC/PS2 and will be censored in Japan on the Wii. But it will be released uncensored on the Wii in America.
I hope it's fake as well because I really want to get this game.
*Cough*Everyone read Roosters post*Cough*

It better be a switched on or off thing. Because I would not buy this game if it was toned down.
Sorry guys...this news is fake.
Good to hear. It really didn't make much sense to me.
Good thing this is fake! bcuz this would have gave the Sony fanboys enough right to call our Wiis childish and stuff!
I have a good idea ill just rent it and if its toned down i wont buy it

the only toned down part is the Japanese release who thought it had senseless violence...
Wow, people don't read these posts anymore...

Dadillsta's right it def says it was proven wrong and that it will be just as violent so dont cry
In case any of you don't believe this is fake let me just say that last weekend I was on my friend's gameshop and he was playing Biohazard 4 (what they call it here) and I saw the blood and whatnot so it is indeed in the game and this is FAKE.
Good, I'm glad. I wouldn't have bought a toned down version of the game if the GCN version was more violent.
hope its a fake, i want it the same or better as it was

If only you had some way to draw attention to your post
It is known and accepted now? No need to draw further attention to it.
