Crystal is significantly better then Emerald for a few reasons.
One, Crystal actually tried to change the story somewhat for it's version instead of the EXACT SAME GAME which is basically what Emerald is other then the battle frontier.

Crystal also felt like more of a game at heart, it just had that something that was right. Also finding Suicune was really fun. But seriously Emerald was Ruby or Sapphire only the cartridge was green. :l

Crystal didn't really change the story, it just brought attention to Suicune as the may character. And finding it in the different locations was meh. Crysta was more like Emerald in that they basically changed the story a little with some additions. Emerald's additions happened to be better. There was a new gym leader in the Sootopolis Gym, the former leader was now champion , giving Sceptile more of an advantae against him, and the former champion was at Meteor Falls for you to challenge. Kind of like paying tribute to the whole Ash battle. Most importantly the challenging Battle Frontier.

totally agrees. plus emerald has more replay value than crystal, thus is thoerectial worth your money.
