So iv been wanting a racing game all bad for the wii for so long and today ive satisfied my craving (for now). I picked this game up thinking "its probably gonna be just another alright game" and what happened.......I WAS TOTALLY RIGHT for a change. Dont get me wrong the game isnt bad or anything but i mean its just.......alright......This game was first launched in Japan for the GCN as GT Cube and it never came to the U.S. until now. it’s the same game with the same graphics just different controls, different console and a different name.

You have 20 tracks to race in but I only count ten since the last 10 are the same as the other tracks only backwards. You also get to choose from 80 different types of cars by ten different manufacturers: ASL, Daihatsu, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Mitsuoka, Nissan, Subaru, Suzuki, and Toyota.

The controls in this game are fairly simple and easy to get used to, and the free steering wheel attachment for the wii remote makes it a bit more comfortable to play. You hold the control on its side like you would with Excite Truck and steer the cars by tilting it in the direction you would like to turn. Your gas pedal/acceleration button is the number 2 button and your brake/reverse button is the number one button. You shift gears with the d-pad, up for up a gear and down for down a gear. The left and right buttons on the the d-pad are used for your left and right side brakes, these come in handy when your coming up on a tight turn and you are forced to drift. You stay at a steady speed and then depending in what direction your turning, press either the left or right side brake botton, while tilting the remote in the direction of the turn.

This will allow you to drift and take the turn in a well skilled manor, but remember not to do drift too early or to over shoot your drift because that can ruin all your efforts of getting through the turn without losing a significant amount of speed.

There are 5 modes of game play: Championship mode, Quick Race mode, Time Attack mode, VS mode, and Drift Combo mode. Championship mode is your traditional racing tournament but in some of the races you can only race with a certain type of car say only three door or two door cars, only light cars, only Hondas that sorta thing. By completing each tournament in either first, second, or third place, you unlock cars, parts and tracks. Some parts really don’t do much but change the look on the car and others actually do change your vehicles performance. Quick Race mode is pretty self explanatory, its just a quick 3 laps around whatever track you pick with whatever car you choose. Time Attack mode, another mode that’s pretty easy to imagine what its all about, just race through the track as fast as possible. The VS mode is where you can race against up to four of your friends on whatever tracks and which ever cars you have.

The Drift Combo mode is where you get to show off your drifting skills by linking one drift to another while going 80 Km/h or more.

The sound track isn’t anything special, just your typical techno arcade music and the same with the sound FX, just your generic VROOMMMMM VROOMMMM.

Oh yeah I almost forgot about the graphics. They’re horrible, but well after finding out that it was a GCN port I really wasn’t surprised. All the vehicles have the cell shaded look, witch isn’t bad but the tracks and backgrounds are really bad. Although you can choose from what time of day and the weather conditions you would like to race in, that doesn’t come close to making up for what bad graphics this game has….

Well all in all I give this game a 6 out of 10, if you like drifting, and Japanese cars, RENT IT FIRST, then see what you think…

(oh and btw this is my first review, so if its not all that great im sorry, i tried Toungue)
Great Review, especially for a first time, and your right, they could have done much better on the Graphics, Lol.

Since Im not into the racing genre, I wont rent this game, but this review is awesome.
i find it always helps in my reviews to give individual categories their own score. Like graphics, music, gameplay etc. it makes it easier for the reader to fully understand how you rate those said areas.

good review for your first try though.
You should have got NFS Carbon. It's pretty good.
Great first review, Angel!
*applause*
But, as Rooster said, I find it easier to understand the final score when I see the individual sections' scores.

3 stars, eh? Hmm.... Well, I'm not into racing that much, so I'll be sure to avoid this game. Toungue

ummm.....
Story: there is none so 0/10
Visual: 3/10
Gameplay: 7/10
Controls: 7/10
Replay Value: 6/10

Thanx, what about sound.
oh crap sorry, sound: 5/10
Thanx again, what those scores it appeared as 56% or 5.7 I didn't include story since most racing games don't have one.
Not bad review. Here's some tips, I won't hound on you sense this is your first. d:

So, you may want to at the end of your review, have sections for individual scores. Like music, gameplay, graphics, that sorta stuff. But keep doing what your doing in terms of paragraphs. Never label your paragraphs, it doesn't look as good. But if you want to somehow make it easier to indentify when your changing subject, I usually put a picture right after I finish talking about something like gameplay.

Alright, now a smart thing to do would be use microsoft Word of something with a spell checker. Typo's will distract the reader and that is not good. Distracting the reader may make them stop reading as they may loose interest.

Back on scores one more time. Try to refrain yourself from making it a paragraph when you show your scores, do this:

Story-(Score)
Visuals-(Score)
Gameplay-(Score)
Audio-(Score)
Controls-(Score)
Replay value-(Score)

Overall-(Score)

That is if those are the categories you wish to use.

Also try and personalize your review, even just a signature thing you do, like a header or just your name at the end. It's just something you may want to do.

Well those are a few tips, but if you want I can help you more next time you post a review. Keep on reviewing!
I'm not huge on racing games and not every one can hold my attention. Need for Speed usually sucks me in for a bit but it doesn't hold me and I get kinda bored of it after a while.
I did play some sort of F1 racer on the PS3 and I think I'd prefer that kind of racing game since it has a sort of a career mode and such.
awesome, thanks for all the tips ill try to keep them in mind for my next review. Wink
(b'-')b Great.

Can't wait for your next review. ^^
