Wii’s hype gives Corruption some potential from a sales perspective, something that the previous two Metroid Prime games have lacked. That said, the window of opportunity is short. Hardcore fans read reviews, and if the reviews are less than stellar, Corruption will have failed to become the must-have title it needs to be, and by the time Halo 3 comes out the next month Samus will be all but forgotten. But if Retro can deliver a great single player component (which it has proven it can do) and serves up an adequate online multiplayer component (which it has not yet proven it can do), Metroid Prime 3 could be something special indeed. If either of those components are absent, however, it will be hard to shake the notion that Corruption was a lost opportunity, especially for a title that was supposed to release months ago.
Regardless, August 20 promises to be an important day in the life of Nintendo’s new console. Whether Corruption will be the definitive hardcore shooter for Wii remains a mystery, at least for now.

From the few previews out there, Retro has got the controls down pack, so I think they will deliver on that. The whole reason MP3 was delayed from being a launch title is because Nintendo and Retro want it to be perfect. MP2 was a disappointment for them and to the fans. They want MP3 to met everyone expectations and it probably will. MP3 is also the last Prime game so of course they want it to make it the best. And it's not known yet whether Corruption will even have an online mode. But even without that I think the game will turn out great.

According to the info Rooster found it doesn't have any offline multiplayer. But it's still unclear if there will online multiplayer.

Because you aren't clearing levels, saving then moving on to the next. Metroid games are known for the exploration, not just simply blowing through levels.

Twilight Princess made those expectations! Plus Metroid Prime 3 is already the most hyped game in my book. Because I believe that Brawl will kick @$$ no matter what happens. metroid is a proving ground for the Wii and that is definitely hype.

I agree with LMX about Twilight Princess not living up to expectations and as for Prime 3, if it's half as good as the first two it'll be awesome, but it has the potential to be better, so I don't think we've got anything to worry about, we're in safe hands with retro.
