Today the Smash Bros. Dojo recieved another one of it's greatly anticipated updates. Today Super Smash Bros. Brawl director Masahiro Sakurai confirmed that the game would be played not only with the GameCube controller or the remote + nunchuk combo, but also with the remote alone (on it's side), and the classic controller.
Sakurai himself wrote, "when it comes to controllers, there are pretty much four different types. I guess I have no choice but implement them all!" He didn't mention how exactly the game would work using the remote and/or nunchuk, but it seems pretty obvious that the motion sensing would be used somehow. Maybe shake the controller while pressing 2 to do a smash attack or something similar.
Sakurai ended with, "How do you do smashes and dashes with just the Wii Remote? If I get the chance to tell you, I will." So expect an update on the issue soon enough.

This is great news, and i really hope we get an update soon about how we do smashes and dashes with just the Wiimote.
This was one of the best Updates. I will probably use the GCN Controller.
Wonderful News, I like the variety. I will most likely play with either the CC or the Wii/Nunchuck controllers.

i dont think he'll drag it on for to long. a week from now tops imo.
1. GCN controller
2. Classic Controller
3. Wii Remote & Nunchuk
2. Wii Remote (horizontal)
I agree with the list exactly. If only I had a wavebird controller.
i prefer the regular controller. wavebirds have lag.
I would use the regular controller but it doesnt reach to my couch.
hmm...whatever works for you. the lag isnt that significant i hear.
this is cool, but id prefer to ue the GC controller
(why didnt any1 tell me that MK:A came out???)
My Excuse: I thought everyone already knew about it.

It was overshadowed by Mario Party 8 release that same week, I think I may prefer the GCN controller as well.
CC Controller would be fun to use, because its collecting dust..

lol. i've yet to use mine to. i'll play with the Wii Remote/Nunhuk first in tribute to the wii, then GCN controller, then CC, then SW wiimote
By the time this game comes out I will hopefully have a new TV so I can play it where I use to play videogames which is colse enough to the TV to use a GCN controller. Otherwise I will use the CC.
hopefully i'll have a laptop in my room so i can plau wi-fi in my room, when i want to.
The Wii-remote on it side scares me. That will be such a simplistic control scheme.
I sorta expected all of those combinations other then the Wii-mote on it's side.
It could actually to be the most complicated one.
Ya, you could end up having to do motions too.
How could motions work with the Wii mote?
