On March 26, 2006, Matt Casamassina, Editor-in-Chief of IGN Wii, had announced in his blog that Nintendo's Virtual Console service, a feature which allows players to download games from the history of Nintendo, will be "Rareless". He stated that he had "met with some Rare/Microsoft staff" while attending the 2006 Game Developers Conference, who reportedly confirmed that the Virtual Console will not see any Rare-owned licenses. The Donkey Kong games that were developed by Rare, remain unaffected since Nintendo retain the rights to the Donkey Kong series (which was Nintendo's creation to begin with).
I guess this means none of the classics like 007, perfect dark, and banjo will never mkae the VC. It really makes me sad that to compete with Nintendo Microsoft had to buy out rare. Yes, I know they're still developing games for the GBA and DS, but those will never match up to the calibur of the console games. It's really a shame that we'll never see some of the golden titles rare has made for the n64, but at least we'll continue to see Donkey Kong. Hopefully Donkey Kong 64 will come out for VC soon.

THIS SUX!!!! I wanted GOLDENEYE!!!!!!!
Okay first off: Nintendo could have kept Rare. I don't know why a majority of Nintendo fans blame Microsoft. Microsoft made an offer to Rare, Nintendo didn't match it so Rare went to M$.
And honestly, was it a loss? Perfect Dark Zero sucked ass, Conker Live and Reloaded sucked ass, Ghosts and Ghoulies sucked ass. Rare have lost their touch because the majority of people who worked on Goldeneye and Perfect Dark left when they were acquired by Microsoft and created Free Radical (Timesplitters creators) as far as I know.
On the topic of Rare VC games... just go buy an N64 with them, I've still got my N64 with Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark ect.
DK64 will come to the VC eventually, but there's no rush because it was a mediocre game anyway.
BATTLETOADS.................

im not sweating about this b/c i finally found my long lost copy of banjo 3 days ago, its been missing for years.
Yeah, it's no big deal for me either, as I have all the carts to all the Rare games I'd want... I'm just holding out that slim hope for online multiplayer on VC games.

I can't see online Vc games happening.
im sure they will be available somewhere, somehow, on some system, someday....
They will be, on Microsoft Live.
N00000 I can't bear the thought D:
If the people who left Rare did indeed create free radical, I may consider some games from that company. I'd like to see the Mario Party games on VC, I was looking to buy them for my N64 but they're always around $20 or more! As for those of you who want Goldeneye on the VC, rare has been talking about it with nintendo. Rooster has a thread related to this one. Scroll down to see it. However, don't get your hopes up too much, as it's very much likely that it won't come to the VC.
It's alright I suppose, all I really wanted is DK64.
So... that's why I'm trying to get all the games from rare for my N64. The only one I have a slight problem with is Conker's Bad Fur Day.
So is it worth it? Click

Then get an N64 + Conker.
Then get an N64 + Conker.
i do got both but i want to play it on wii
Well, unfortunately it doesn't look like you'll be getting that though. So you'll have to settle for playing the game on the good ol' N64.
