No you can't play wii games with a classic controller, you can currently only play Virtual console games but super smash bros brawl will let you play with the classic controller. Hope this helps.

Ok, I think people have already cleared this up but meh.
The Classic Controller has a few uses. It's original use and primary at the moment is playing your Virtual Console games. The Classic Controller is compatible with every single Virtual Console game and is what it was originaly designed for.
Although, the Classic Controller is useable in certain Wii games to date, some known ones are Mortal Kombat Armeggedon, Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, Rampage I beleive, and we know SSBB will have it. Other then that though it's limited.
The notion that you can play your Gamecube games with the Classic Controller is a lie. Why? Well, frankly, the Wii-Remote CAN NOT be turned on while playing a Gamecube game, the function wasn't in the Gamecube games for a Wii-Remote and the Classic Controller is plugged into the Wii-Remote, hence it's not possible. Trust me, I also tried it when I heard the rumor. I solely say it to be FALSE.
