I myself do not have linux installed on anything but in a few months after i move i will have IPcop running on a firewall server and Ubuntu and Korora beta both running in VM's on my XP pro machine.
I have Linux running on my XBOX, working on getting it running on a PC, this PC I'm working with is a piece of crap though. The one I normally surf on is a Pentium 2 MMX, 32 MB RAM, I've got Windows 2000 on it tweaked like freaking crazy and still not much RAM for my apps. Sad I wish I had money to build a computer, but I've yet to get money for a Wii so a computer is way outta my reach right now.

What Linux distro are you running on the xbox and planning to put on the pc. Kinda curious about the xbox, never done an install on that before.

If you ever do do that, set a weekend asside to do it, it's a big hassle if you don't have a chip.

I doubt i will, maybe once i get a chip for it then i will play around with it for fun. I've gotta get my firewall server and my domain controller up and running first Big Grin
Mine's not even chipped, just softmodded. I use X-DSL which can be found at: http://www.x-dsl.org/wiki/Main_Page
It's quite responsive, and I did it via FTP, it's quite easy. Heres the steps:
1. Mod your XBOX.
2. Install Dashboard/Etc.
3. Extract the ISO of X-DSL.
4. FTP the KNOPPIX folder and linuxboot.cfg and default.xbe into main E:\, apps folder, whatever you want it at. Just make sure KNOPPIX is one folder, and linuxboot.cfg and default.xbe are NOT in that folder.
5. Run the default.xbe.
6. Choose FatX(E:\)
7. It will give you some options, shouldn't be any yet but X-DSL.
8. Run it, and it will run it off your Hard Drive just like a live CD, but from an HD.
9. Right Click (B Button) on the desktop and there should be options for install such as frugal, loopback, etc.
10. This step is really dependent on what you choose, but I chose a loopback, because it lets you have a linux filesystem inside a file so you can still load it up and install things, I have even successfully installed Wine and played a few games like Starcraft, and Hoyle Board Games and Hoyle Card Games.
Have fun with Linux. =)
P.S. You can even browse with FireFox, but for some reason I can't get plugins to download. Toungue
Sweetness, i may have to give it a try when i get it hooked up again....just got it packed in a box for moving Sad but it doesn't sound to difficult.
It really isn't. Getting it softmodded is the hardest part. But that is easy if you have access to the memory card with an exploit on it and the game that goes to the exploit.

clear as mud...wow, seems complicated

Trust me i've seen much harder things, like i can never find decent instruction for configuring the x11 server for slackware, now the instructions i did find for that suck.
X11 is the same no matter what distro. Try searching for support on it in general, rather than specific to slackware.
Nah drew, it really isn't that hard. If you actually are doing it, it's pretty easy if you read that while doing the stuff, and you'll understand it very easily. Big Grin
Yeah i will try that with the x11, although slackware as far as i've been told is one of the few you actually have to configure along with setting the run level to get the gui to start and to boot automatically.
You should probably switch to Ubuntu then. Something a little easier.

Yeah well i have only been playing with it a little, i've probably only spent about 10 minutes doing quick research. I'll look into it a little more after i reinstall xp on my machine.

Oh, by the way... I just installed Linux on my DS! Right now I'm working on setting up the network, etc. XD
^^^^ videos???
Yeah that is pretty frickin sweet, wish i had more time to play around with that....and yeah we need pics or vids, wanna see the sweetness. Smile
I tried taking some pictures with my digital camera, but they all come out blurry on the screen (the text is too tiny). Sad

If you want to see a video of someone else doing it click here.

I'm also blogging my progress on my journal on gaiaonline.com (click my character in sig) if anyone wants to read about it.
