Tell me your reason why you think it should be gone.

We discuss everyting in there.. because it has no topic. The topic changes every 2 pages, and you normally can't follow unless you stay in that thread alone. Which is exactly what most of the posters do.

By this I mean, expres your pain about it being gone, and realize that it was for the good of the site, and start making new threads! :p
And not just in OT.
I'm asking you guys to also, please post outside of OT.

getting rid of LPTPHW will not solve the OT issue. people wander to OFF TOPIC in general, not just to that thread. people don't have much to say, mostly because either it's been said before, or it gets locked, or it's not seen to be as interesting as something else. we need something to grab people's attention...not just from a thread, but from the lack of want to post outside of OT.
If we have multiple threads, we'll look more active, and more people will join in. It's not like we got rid of your ability to post.
WHat looks more appeling to a new member?
1 thread that gets 50+ posts a day?
or 50 threads that get 1 post a day?

We want people to know we are disussing things, everything in one thread just isn't practical.

so you're saying that having a thread about women right above a thread about the Wii right above a thread about how work sucks right above a thread about food looks more appealing than what we had? i have to disagree. that'd look a lot worse than having everything in one thread and someone just stumbling upon the current conversation.
and 50 threads that get 1 post each would make us look even more dead than 1 post getting 50 replies. think about it: if one topic gets 50 replies, then people are interested. if 50 threads go by with just 1 reply, it shows a disinterest in the subject. 1 pointless thread = better than 50 pointless threads.
this isn't an issue of LPTPHW vs. WL. this is an issue of WL vs OT and death. you kill LPTPHW, and you're basically killing a good majority of OT. and when you kill OT, we're gonna have to work our arses off to keep this site active at all. have fun with that guys. i love how there was a discussion about this, and i wasnt a part of it. lovely. love you all.

Oh and don't counter those with "It was Off-Topic anything goes". You know that's not true, even when a thread in Off-Topic goes Off-Topic it still can be locked, and has been locked. Off-Topic is just were you can discuss non-Video game related things. So don't counter those with it's Off-Topic. XD

All of the threads in OT have habit of going Off-Topic. So using topics as a reason to lock it makes no sense at all.

I already used said arguments because they work. Whilst I understand a certain level of control over OT you can't lock a thread because it went too OT... that makes very little sense.
For the record: I don't care too much, because more threads will rise up to replace LPTPHW. Either that or the OT section will become a lot more boring.

The REASON why it was basically took out it because it is a bad influence on new members. The Off-topic is a PRIVLEGDE it doesn't have to be here. They gave us this board so that we wouldn't have to spam in the other boards and also to be able to talk about stuff and have forum games, but LPTPHW got outta hand sometimes. I bet if someone was to go through that, alot of memebers would get warning or something because they were flaming users in that. Don't get me wrong, I love the off-topic, but I think that the LPTPHW was a bit outta hand.
This is gonna be one of those things that we'll look back at and go "Hey, remember LPTPHW?!" Its gonna be for old-school WL members and will have a cult following, lol.

Ok, ok, ok. So, let me get this straight, Off-Topic is just one big spam fest were nothing ever stays on topic for more then a few posts is what your saying? That doesn't sound like a good forum to me! O.O
No, I'm just saying that OT is for OT discussion. You can't come here expecting things to stay on topic... because they won't. That's all I was saying.

They could be, but they also shouldn't be persecuted for going Off Topic when they are inside a section with a label that insinuates off topic discussion.
If we want to discuss things other than video games but have more strict views towards the topics then this section should be renamed "General Discussion."

the topic was that it was a game. you can't go off topic when the point of the game is to be the last person to post in it, no matter what you do. so if you want to get technical, it never got off topic.

That wasn't serious...Just clearing that up.
In case you missed d4rks explanation of this elsewhere, it was locked for specific reasons, which we will monitor over the next week or so to see if we were correct in our assumptions. If we were wrong, the thread will be reopened.
In other words, it's not gone... it's on pause until we can determine whether it is in the best interest of the site as a whole.
