Interesting title,I would say I have a favorite game but I do like the Zelda series the best for single player and Smash Bros for multiplayer.

Which is why I think they are equally deserving.
Metroid gets a slight advantage for being more of an underdog out of the two franchises. Everyone hypes Zelda games, but Metroid games sometimes come under the radar and kick ass.

It's a shame that VC can't handle the game very well when used with an HD tv. Almost pointless.

Very very tough question, but I'd have to say Super Mario World. I doubt I've played any game as much as I played that one.
Mario 64 was revolutionary, LoZ:OoT was amazing, and SSBB was addicting. Super Metroid and Metroid Prime are outstanding games that deserve attention. All in all, there are way too many to pick from to have a definite list, and I'm sure everyone would forget some. It just goes to show how talented Nintendo's first and second party developers are.

Probably a tie between Super Mario bros, Link to the Past, and Twilight princess. I don't know why, but I just stopped playing Ocarina of Time a while ago. I'll probably pick it up again soon, but I played it after Twilight Princess, so it lost a tad bit of draw. I couldn't put it down for a great while until I got to the Shadow Temple. LttP and SMB have always had some sort of thing that keeps me going in them.
Multiplayer, Smash hands down. There is no better multiplayer game in existence in my opinion.

... tempted to say mario 64...
... but i think i will have to go w/ pikmin (either I or II). such unique, enjoyable, challenging gameplay. if you haven't picked up these titles for gc, they're amazing. especially if you like puzzle games. basically a combo of puzzle game and simplified rts w/ slight rpg elements. can't wait for the next pikmin. definitely the best of the nintendo franchises that only date back to gc.
