Following Game Informer’s revelation that Spore’s release was delayed indefinitely, the internet community was split between those that felt as if the sky was falling and those that have stopped caring. As part of the former, Destructoid did some digging and found out that Game Informer was lying. Well, maybe not, but they weren’t all that accurate.
The game has officially been wiped off the 2008 release list for EA (or EA Sims, whatever), with the company listing the game for fiscal 2009. Whether or not this is an actual 2009 release date or simply a placeholder until they’re ready to deliver more bad news, it’s at least enough to calm the virtual world down.
