yeah i'm playin elder scrolls oblivion now but me thinks i need break, but to figure out which guild wars to get? Does anyone have any suggestions.
I used to play Guild Wars (the first one) but the 20 level cap bored me and yes I made several kinds of characters/combinations. It looks really nice though and I like that there's no KSing since you don't see other people when hunting/fighting.

Same with me.

I'm psyched about GW2 though, they mentioned a lot bigger lvl cap.
I think it was rumored to be 99.

So if you don't see other people when hunting or fighting what do you do with other people online?
when you leave a town or outpost you and your party of people or npcs are given your own "copy" of the area you are entering. It is entirely for you and your party so no one can come outta nowhere and steal your hard earned moneys and treasures and/or kick your arse. It was a little weird to get used to but its actually a really nice system. If you wanna fight alone and keep everything yourself you can, or you can join/form a party and go adventuring together.

There is also PvP in certain areas and the games can be anything from a death match to an "attack the opposing fortress" kind of set up. There a bunch of different types of PvP matches to choose from but some are only opened up after you reach a certain area or level. I think the main reason for that is to keep, for example, someone who is level 20 from slaughtering lower leveled nooblets. I prefer the PvP in factions over the other two games, but i never did finish Nightfall.

Afterthought: They usually have special event PvP matches around holidays (especially Christmas). These are unique and specially made matches for only the holiday season and normally they bring every class down to the basics. e.g. all necromancers are given the same skills for the match, this goes for the other classes as well. This removes the major advantage that veteran players have due to their wider array of skills, magic, and techniques and level the playing field so newer/less experienced players can also have fun.
I like that idea. AO had a similiar function but not for just a single group. Yup, next paycheck i'm gonna go pick it up. If anyone has any suggestions on which one to get let me know.
If you want a really good story I would recommend the original. But i personally prefer Factions because the PvP is much better in my opinion, also, the plot isn't horrible its just not quite as good as the first one. I got bored with Nightfall and never bothered to finish so you might want someone else's opinion on that one.
The first one has the best story by far. It also has the best starter area. If you want pve, go for that one, pvp, doesnt matter unless you want certain skills.
Thx for the input guys, much appreciated Big Grin
i really like NightFall
(i have played the origional)
ive just started on it and its really fun...
i joined a guild as well... Big Grin
Yeah, Guilds are mostly for playing PVP and even though I joined one I never really participated in the PVP matches because they're not my thing. The story in the first one is pretty good but I haven't played the others so I can't compare. It's good to hear they will have a higher level cap!
I do, its quite good, But, ive got NF and it aint the best , id rather buy Factions... ^_^
Wouldn't get factions just yet considering Eye of the North was just released. I'll be picking up my copy next weekend. I just started playing the original again about 4 weeks ago when a friend of mine started playing and asked me to join him. Going through the story again, then I'll play Eye of the North, which will link GW with GW2.
Back on after awhile and all fears may be laid to rest, GW:EN (Eyes of the North) is good. for people who are starting, however... get one of the other 3 campaigns 1st and beat it... reason is you have to have 1 campaign to run GW:EN. Proph benifits most if you follow the GW lore.

And the Mini Games are to die for, i will be starting a 2nd thread which will explain one of my favorite mini game... look for the thread "Influence on PC from nintendo"
I just picked up GW: EotN a week ago and I totally forgot that I let my friend play on my old Guild Wars: Prophecies account and he played several characters so he had deleted all my old ones. He has not played for a very long time and has no plan of returning so I got my account back but have to start again. I've been playing for a little less than a week now I think and I'm only level 15 so I haven't had the chance to try out my EotN yet... The problem is that I'm getting lazy to play through the game again just to do so.....
Hey, i'm planning on picking up this game on my lunch break today and was gonna start playing once i get home. Was wondering what kind of professions you all prefer. Normally in these games i have been more comfortable as a tank but i also play in a ranged role as well.
Monk/Mesmer is good for ranged, u can Heal and cast spells very well... Smile
