Wii sales reaching their full potential?
Nintendo claim that their US sales aren't doing aswell as they could.
Sales in the U.S. have not reached their potential, Toyoda said. The Kyoto-based company has in the past sold about twice as many consoles in North America than in Japan or Europe, he said.
Nintendo has so far sold about 2.37 million Wii consoles in the U.S., 2 million in Japan and 1.47 million in other regions, including Europe, he said.
Shares of the company rose 2.6 percent to 45,450 yen on the Osaka Securities Exchange today, compared with a 0.3 percent decline in the benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average.

Interesting.
What do they mean, "not doing as well as they could?!"
As soon as a Wii (or more than one Wii) reaches a store, it's almost immediately sold out. There are some areas where this doesn't happen, but the majority of stores that get Wii consoles have this happen to them.
I don't see why they think the Wii isn't selling as well as it should in US. Unless of course they aren't happy with manufacturing. That's their own problem, though. d:
Good find, ninty-wii.

^--Proof of my point.
I can't see what Nintendo's unhappy about.
if anything Nintendo should be having a party. The US is the Wiis top selling country. I am not sure if this is still happening but for months people were still waiting for Wiis outside of stores. Its kind of Nintendos fault for not having enough Wiis early on.
What is Nintendo unhappy about,as soon as shipments come in the units sell out. If they want to see an improvement they need to quickly increase production.

i think nintendo has like million of wiis in their company but their just holding them in so it could increase the hype of wiis well thats my opinion ^_^
Well if thats what there doing then mayby they need to stop and give everything theyv'e got.

yeah but then ppl will stop buying it i think because the wii is easier to make then a 360 and ps3 WAY EASIER

I doubt that, a lot of people would be mad if that were actually true.
I seriously dont see the point in them holding them back. And I dont think they are either

My thoughts exactly. There's absolutely no point in holding back. They should just keep shipping and keep making money.
I still don't see why Nintendo's upset, though. d:

I promise if Nintendo had the consoles, they would sell them. Holding back a product while people are waving their money around to buy one is not smart, and Nintendo, being an extremely profitable company with a huge market value from pretty much nothing but video games, is very smart with money.
Yup thats exactly right. They are also very good with putting out little info at a time to keep us on our toes and wanting more. Look at the Smash Bros. site for example.

sorry to disagree but there is no way that would happen, and there is no way nintendo has a 'stash' of wiis somewhere
Actualy, yesterday, I went to Wal-Mart to pick up some new headphones, and I saw I think 3-4 Wii's in the glass, but they could have just got there, I dunno.
so now there are 4 available in the entire country...way to step up production Ninty

lol
Shut up Nintendo... Just shut up.
How can we buy consoles we don't have?
QFT
They need to do something about it.
