Let me tell you a funny story first. I was at Circuit City, looking to purchase the Samsung 20" Widescreen Monitor (206BW) and it totally looked like crap. I check the resolution the the graphics chip was setting the monitor at and it was incorrect, and trust me, this thing looked terrible. I called a salesman over and asked if he could fix it, because I wasn't gonna purchase anything looking that like, and he couldn't do anything about it. He called over his manager, and after them dicking with it for about 40 minutes (the manager ignoring me totally) they decided to put it on another computer and it worked fine. I checked the graphics chip on that computer and saw it was the same one as I had in my HP computer.

Let me back up for a moment. When questioning the sales guy about why the monitor looked so terrible, he kept telling me it must not be hooked up to the digital input. I tried to explain that the graphics chip in the computer did not have a digital output, and after hearing that he dismissed my knowledge (I knew what the hell I was talking about) and finally he turned the computer around and found he was wrong. I hate it when sales people feed you a line of BS, because every-so-often they run into a customer that actually knows their ****.

Anyhoo, I'd like to get a monitor with similar specs as the Samsung (click on the name and description for the website info), but not sure if it's the right one for me. Soon I'll be adding a graphics card to the computer so I want it to do both digital/analog. Other then that a fast response time is important. Any advice or monitors some of you might own and love, please post them and I'll take a peak at them all.

Thanks
I have a dual monitor setup with a 22" Acer and a 19" Samsung, and both work great. What is your price range, and what will you be using it for? Honesty, I have trouble working without dual monitors, but if you do nothing but game, a single, larger monitor would be better IMO. The Samsung you linked to has good specs, but for that price you can find a similar spec'ed 22" if you shop around. 24" generally jump up in price (and resolution), so unless you have deep pockets, stick with 22" and below. If you have an old 17/19, though, I would highly recommend adding it as a secondary monitor. You have no idea how useful it is!
I'm looking at under $300 dolors. Many of the 19 inch monitors I've looked at just don't have the specs I want, and I figured I'd spend a little more to have a better monitor in the long run. I'm not the type to get rid of this one in a year or two so I'll have this for quite a while.

As for what it will be used for...well I game, but for the most part, it'll be used for simply online stuff like ebay and such.
Yes, I would pick up a 22" with similar specs as that 20" for about $250 (maybe less if you look hard). Do you already have a LCD monitor that you could use as secondary? If not, you can find amazing deals on 15/17/19 from time to time, just to use it as an extra window. If you sell on ebay, it's invaluable.
I'm not real hip on ordering LCD monitors online and getting them shipped either fed-ex or UPS. The major stores in my area are a couple of best buys and circuit city. The nearest comp usa is a long ways away.

You could probably find a 22" for $200 if you wanted to get it shipped! I was referring to B&M stores likes CC, BB, Staples, etc for the $250 number.

I'll look around the web a little more. Thus far many retailers I've checked out can't quite match the specs and price I found at CC, but I'll take a peak...thanks

Yeah, you can't find them every day, but with patience, you'll find them from time to time. The next big chance is the 4th. Deals always gravitate around holidays.
Very true, though most of the signs point to this weekend. I went on staples.com officemax.com bestbuy.com and circuitcity.com, along with a personal favorite of mine http://www.allstarshop.com and couldn't find anything that really seemed like a deal or anything as good or better then the Samsung. I have a Samsung HD TV and love it, and have seen this monitor in action and am impressed.

My mind isn't closed off to other possibilities, but right now things seem to be pointing to my original find.

BTW thank you for your added help in this matter Joker.
Oh yeah, if you're impatient, the 20" Samsung is not a bad deal at all. A 22" can be a similar price, but that's just because the resolution is the same on either (which some would argue that 20's are better because of the increase DPI due to the same resolution but smaller size).

BTW, if you can increase your budget to about $420, I can point you to a 24" with 1920x1200... now that's some real estate! If not, I can't find a better deal at this moment for a similar monitor.
im confused lol

I wasn't thinking about spending $420, but I'll get with dr4k and have him forward me this months Wiiloaded paycheck, that should be around $1240 before taxes so I should be able to swing it.

Hehe

i have two 17" Hp 1702 hooked up to a dual jack video card

me likey
I wasn't impressed with the specs I saw for the HPs. They did look nice, but since I'll have this monitor for quite a long time, I want the 2ms g to g, and the higher resolution that a 20" monitor will give me.
yeah, i see your point

i was just happy to get rid of the heavy old monitor and get 2 flatscreens
yeah those CRTs can be huge and heavy Smile What model HP monitors do you have?
