While writting today's short little piece about the release of Pokémon Battle Revolution, a thought came into my head. Will Nintendo wind up cannibalizing PBR's sales with Pokémon Diamond and Pearl on DS? What is there that PBR has that Diamond and Pearl don't already do, aside from a few minor gimmicks here and there?
The DS games already gave you the ability to battle online so people really shouldn't make a big deal about it in Battle Revolution. One thing PBR does do that Diamond and Pearl don't is allow you to customize your character. But this is such a minor feature that it really shouldn't matter in the long run. The single player mode in PBR, while present, doesn't seem nearly as good as what you would get on the DS.
Tha main advantages that Battle Revolution has over Diamond and Pearl are that it's on a console, not a handheld, which allows Nintendo to throw in 3D graphics and better visuals. It also gives you a 16 player tournament mode which would be great online... if it was supported online.
So then tell me, why would you buy Pokémon Battle Revolution if you already own Diamond and/or Pearl? Are all these minor things that PBR holds over the handheld games worth spending another $50? In reality, I know that PBR will sell well; it's a Pokémon game after all. There are people out there who would buy a bucket of crap if it had a sticker of Pikachu slapped on it, but ask yourself if PBR is really worth it. If you don't have a DS and don't plan on getting one then I guess you'd be happy with Pokémon Battle Revolution, but the game doesn't have much to offer that you won't already find on the DS.

Well there is one reason im buying pbr its because u can randomly battle ppl worldwide =D but it sucks i reserved it but in my town there is so much hype about the game that i got to wait till tommorow to get it :>_<:
Well, frankly I see your point but I HIGHLY doubt it.
It's another game and I think battling via Wii Online would be more fun too. It's Pokemon so it'll sell like crazy, not to mention it's our first Online Wii game in North America and I want online Damnit! >:3
It'll sell for the same reasons Pokemon Stadium did. What could be better than watching your carefully trained team from Diamond or Pearl come to life on the big screen in glorious 3D. Although the online is as you say, it is not the only multiplayer option either. The traditional face to face multiplayer is still good for those without a Wii, or cannot get online, or don't have a DS.
I know I'll be playing Pokemon Battle Revolution online because my DSL connection does not support my DS for online play.
I will pick up this game when it comes down in price alot.
I'm getting this game for the reasons Pancake provided!
I wanna see my Deoxys and by Rayquaza displayed in full 3d on my TV. Plus the fact that is the first online Wii game doesn't hurt

shoot themselves in the first?
hell no. you've overlooked the fact ppl will buy the game just because it has the pokemon. they'll also buy to play and have fun. theres also a crap load of TMs and Items you can get from playing the game that can be transferred to your Diamon/Pearl game. you can also get a pikachu that has a light ball, volt tackle, and surf. you can also get a magmotar and electivire.
I understand where you're coming from, but it's Pokemon and the first online Wii game. People will buy regardless.
Hence why I don't give two Sh- about PBR.
It should be priced much lower.
Nintendo just keep shooting themselves in the foot with the Wii.

I see your point. I never thoughtof it like that but as stated many times before, its Pokemon... on the Wii.
People will buy it just because of that.
If what they've said about PBR is true, then the first player mode doesn't have a great deal of Pokemon to choose from and they're all fairly generic and weak. Diamond and Pearl are needed so that you can transfer your "Kick Butt" Pokemon into PBR and have much greater variety.
Diamond and Pearl and necessary for PBR's success, because the boring Pokemon in the Wii version won't cut it on it's own.
Nintendo planned that all along, they knew that PBR would not that great without D/P. Both games will boost each others sales.
It should be priced much lower.
why would they do that?

they do this all the time. even with Re/Blue/Yellow and Pokemon Stadium.
It's fun dammit! Deal with it. ( I have to wait till my dad gets home today to get it

)

...are you joking?
PBR ROCKS!
yes PBR FTW
LMX is not joking , he's upset with Nintendo for not having any guarantee that the big 3 will be out there, by the end of the year and AU & EU are just getting SPM in September.
