The lastest issue of EGM is reporting a rumor that Sony has a Wii-mimicking iteration of PS2 in the works for a Christmas release. That may sound bizarre, but EGM doesn’t normally report on unsubstantiated rumors.
Wired’s Chris Kohler has written an insightful opinion piece in response to the rumor, and in it he states a number of reasons why such a move would be nothing but bad for Sony. I’m still rather puzzled by it all myself, and I’ll be quite surprised if this one turns out true.

OMG. This has seriously got to be the dumbest thing they could do.
Like that Chris guy said, this would simply solidify Nintendos position.
Or.......if the whole thing worked just a little, it could force Nintendo to lower the Wii price quicker and possible even the price of the games. Whether you think this is a dumb move or not, this could work in favor of those of us who actually own a Wii or for those that will get one.

I honestly don't know, but we've seen enough Ported games to the Wii that were slated for the Gamecube or came out on the Gamecube, so maybe it won't be quite so hard....It's really out of my league so I'm just guessing.

Good point, Also don't you think people would prefer the real thing not the imitation, unless you are a diehard sony fanboy and really hate nintendo which i would guess they wouldn't be posting here

Sony already has the Six-axis for the PS3 which is motion sensative.

well yeah but i wouldn't be surprised if sony takes the ps2 to a new direction cause its selling better then ps3 also getting more good games like god of war 2 and many more
