Fans of NGamer magazine were in for a real treat this week with a preview of Retro Studios' much anticipated game "Metroid Prime 3: Corruption".
I myself, bought this magazine and was extremely excited by the preview, it being the first we in Europe have had in a while now. While it declared the usual things; 20th August release in US, TBC in UK; it was still in interesting read.
One thing of interest to me, in an entirely awful way, was the last paragraph.
Multiplayer is, it seems, completely off the menu now. Unless there's something they've managed to keep incredibly quiet, Corruption is entirely an offline, solo experience. But with the level of polish we expect to see from this game - the real hardcore flagship title for Wii - we're probably not going to miss it. Bring it on, Samus.
I am probably the person on WiiLoaded who is most looking forward to potential Wi-Fi Connection support for Metroid Prime 3, but if I was being truthful to myself, then I would have to admit defeat at this point. There has been literally no mention of any form of multiplayer support for the "killer-app" title. Most developers when mentioning an upcoming game, like to boast about the "four player support" their game has or its "online functions", but Nintendo have kept their lips firmly shut on this one.
I know that there are many people here who do not mind whether the last installment to the Prime series has WFC functionality or not, but I still do. There are currently no online First-Person Shooters available on Wii, and with the release of Bungie's massive FPS, Halo 3, just around the corner, we want a title as to hold our ground with.
While saying this, I do of course acknowledge that one particular online game, HAL Laboratory's anxiously awaited Super Smash Bros. Brawl is going to be released at a similar date, and will be nearly, if even just as popular as Bungie's attempt, there is still one resting feeling in my mind.
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is the last entry into the current series of the greatest Nintendo First-Person Shooter ever made.
Halo 3 is the last entry into the current series of the greatest Microsoft First-Person Shooter ever made.

Does anyone else feel that a bit of healthy competition between two flagship titles would have injected a bit of life into the current uninspired spell that has gripped the video games industry?
As always, your comments are greatly appreciated.
